So how does this "ticket exchange" work? Pick a game you want to go to and the Bruins will give you whatever is available from the box office?
They've said it's good for any game in the calendar year - so, the rest of this season, and the start of next season.
Here's my best guess, but details will come out tomorrow:
1) You probably have to be the primary buyer. That means you're the one who bought a blue-dot ticket from Ticketmaster. If you bought it from StubHub or Ace, they're not responsible.
2) The face value of the ticket, possibly along with the processing fees (but probably not delivery if you paid to have it mailed), will be applied as a discount to any blue-dot Ticketmaster ticket. That means it's a full price single game ticket. So if you paid $165 for tonight for a blue-dot loge seat, and you want to go the Habs game on Sunday, you're probably sitting in the balcony and using the bulk of your ticket....or you're going to have to pony up ANOTHER $170 to get the only single loge seat available.
Not sure how Ticket Exchange works with the red recycle tickets. You'll probably get your money back that you spent on the ticket, and the person who sold you the ticket will be allowed to exchange their ticket for a new one.
As far as StubHub - I bet you're SOL there if you don't go. If the event goes, they probably won't offer a refund of any kind. They generally don't like dealing in buyer/seller disputes.
Ace might be more generous. If they can verify that you didn't use the tickets, they MIGHT be able to refund the money. But I wouldn't count on it. Resale markets tend to be "caveat emptor" - if the event goes off without a hitch, they're great. If they're cancelled completely, they'll refund money from the seller back to the buyer, leaving the seller responsible for getting money back at the original point of purchase.
But in a middling case like this, there's not a lot the Bruins can do. I will say that they're being very responsible by allowing these exchanges.
