This team reminds me of 2011-12 in the way that they are being carried by a goalie and winning games they shouldn't.

Want to know the move Sather made in 2012 at the deadline? a 4th round pick for John Scott. Sather knew that team wasn't ready and Drury should see that here as well.
Low scoring, blocking shots, relying on an incredible goaltender to win you every game. It's almost a mirror image.

Well we made it to game 6 of the ECF so... who knows what a bigger trade might have done.

Here's my solution to our 2nd line for now, Panarin Goodrow Strome at wing. I think even spreadinf panarin and strome apart a bit might stop them from forcing things too much, and goodrow can be the responsible one

I’m starting to like Gretzky again.
Tocchet says the Rangers should make moves at the deadline to go for it. Carter and Gretzky disagree. Both Wayne an Keith believe they need to wait. Rick said Drury needs to send a message to the team that management believes in them. Carter asks Tocchet what would he do “ You going to trade Lafrenier; You going to trade Kakko?” Tocchet accuses Gretzky and Carter of being Ranger Fan’s.
They cut to commercial. Conversation ends and is not picked up after the break.

Panarin must think if he helps keep Strome's production down we might be able to afford him.

I looked at it recently, there weren't any big trades that deadline. Not sure there would have been anything out there that would have prevented Torts from grinding the team to the ground anyway.

Do you think its an age thing? If over a PPG is some kind of cliff he has fallen off of because he hit 30 than isn't he exceeding expectations? How many points does the RW have on his line? Has he played to Breadman levels? No, but he also had one of the best UFA seasons in the league so maybe he just raised the bar a little higher. But the Panarin bashing is unreal when he has an AHL+ player on his opposing wing and Ryan "predictably defer to Panarin every time I touch the puck" Strome. That line is predictable, just cover Panarin.
Forget about points for a second, do you think he's having the same impact on the game in all 3 zones? Is he as adept at carrying the puck up ice, is he stealing pucks, is he shaking off checks, is he creating as many chances? I can tell you his on-ice impacts have dropped off dramatically. So has his production for that matter at 5v5.

Hunt with one hand on that stick nearly prevented them from getting out of the zone.

I think Torts used the best style to win with the quality of roster he had, to be honest, but it shortened a lot of players careers I agree.
