Man Marchand is the engine of this team. Pray he doesn't get hurt or suspended for a period of time. That rush he made on the Bergeron goal was just unrea

I worry about that after seeing him with yet another dangerous trip (on Stralman) in the neutral zone that was not called by the refs. He received a gift with the Kronwall / non-suspension decision. Hope this film doesn't make it to the DoPS because it seemed quite obvious to me that this was intentional despite his best efforts to disguise it. I love it when he plays with an edge but he can sometimes get himself all riled up and make bad decisions. This team can ill afford to lose Marshy for any games because he is what drives this team most nights.

Sounds stupid to say this but with 30 games left these are all must win games... and they did win... so props

We saw tonight several games between teams we are competing with... and several teams had loses. This reaffirms what I've been saying all along that our competition isn't playing great hockey and isn't likely to pull away from us.

Toronto and Ottawa are both playing every second day on average these next 2 months... both have goalie issues

Carolina's hot streak peaked and ended... they are now in our rearview mirror

Islanders were just told they are moving again... got to figure that will demoralize them

Making the playoffs is in our own hands still... win the games we need to win.

And on a side note... suddenly bergeron and krecji are both flirting with 20 goal seasons... our offense is coming around.

With that much needed trade upgrade, we might whip into playoff shape yet

Cannot see how the NHL can say without any doubt Marchand did that on purpose Sneaky but hard to prove on purpose Ref not even call a penalty lending credence to a accidental collision.

Exactly again that Rush is a prime example of him again just putting this team on his shoulders. He is really the only thing close to if not an actual superstar on this team. I'm glad krejci and Bergeron both scored huge goals tonight, but he is on another level compared to even those two right now.

My boy C.Miller with a great game.

Dump Carlo down a line and put up C.Miller with Chara, combined hardest shot dmen in the league.

Marchand awesome again, tied with Burns for 4th in league scoring with Burns, only McDavid Crosby Malkin ahead of him.

Bergeron looking better, and the goals are coming.

Nice win.

They're far from a joke, they are middle of the pack and a bubble team for sure, but they aren't going to finish in the bottom with the guys they have.

Yeah, seriously. I think every bruin fan should be obligated to follow one other team, to see how they are doing. If you are not a Chicago fan, then pretty much you go through poor, uninspired play, dodgy coaching decisions, and misguided front office moves. Even Pitt went through years of failure at every level before they put together another cup team.

Question and complain about things all ya like (I know I have two #19 shaped holes in my heart that will never heal) but to call them the worst, and awful, I don't get it.

Maybe, just a thought, Miller looked so good because he is playing against lower level lines than Carlo, and Carlo was good tonight, just as he has been most of the season.

Still looked gross and he probs lost but strides!

Great win though. They are playing some spirited hockey

I have seen them show this on sportsnet several times tonight calling it a slew foot! Are you ****ing kidding me!!!!??? He wasn't even looking at him. Why in the world would he even think of doing this after just receiving a fine!!!?? If this was a collision involving any other player in the league we would not have even heard of it! This is clearly another case of the Media creating something out of nothing!!!!

That is very true, and with their recent run you could even throw Chicago in there, as well. Heck, for all the complaining about Jimmy Hayes, Chicago has Jordin Tootoo and Andrew Desjardins, neither of whom have even registered a point this season. ;)

Outside of a handful of teams, the problems that plague the Bruins - sub par backup goaltending, lack of depth scoring, defensemen slotted too high - plague many other teams.

The Bruins have one of the best first lines in hockey, and a top goalie. While not an upper echelon team, they should be in the thick of the playoff race the rest of the year.

Tonight's game was entertaining, and as it progressed had a bit of a playoff vibe. And for all the hard-to-take announcers from other teams, I dig Tampa's, especially Brian Engblom.

Great win and fun game to watch. Great to see some players other than first liners potting some goals. Chara with yet another goal, and it was a beauty. Old man is putting together quite a nice season. Not top 100 all-time NHL? Yeah, riiiiiggghhhht. Hayes actually threw some punches in a fight, and although he lost the fight he looked respectable enough this time. Good that the Bs put away a non-playoff team on the road. Absolutely must win these type of games from here on out. If they can pull a rabbit out of the hat against the Caps that would be grand.

As for the business with Marchand -- give me a break! I felt the last incident was indeed a slewfoot and uncalled for. However, what happened against TB was in no way dirty and was a case of happening at a bad time. Since Marchand has a history of making cheap plays I guess anything remotely resembling something bad will put heat on him.

The Good:

I thought Marchand, Krug, and Colin Miller were the most noticeable plus players for Boston in all three periods.

No quit in the team after Killorn tied it up at 2-2. They came right back at the Lightning.

Major credit to McQuaid for stepping up into major Top 4 minutes. Of course there were moments when he was fighting the puck, and it is not an ideal situation, but I love the way he battles. The Lightning announcers kept talking about how tough Boston is to play against in front of their own net, and McQuaid is a big part of that. McQ playing Top 4 minutes allowed C. Miller to take advantage of the easier matchups which was a decisive factor in the game.

Carlo was very active and effective in man to man coverage. He shows good anticipation on keep-ins in the offensive zone as well.

Unfortunately, since I am overseas, I haven't gotten to see as many games as usual, but I think Julien is getting the most out of this group. There are too many marginal NHL talents in the lineup but sticking to the system effectively hid it. Now I don't think he was the right coach for this team a few years ago, and I don't personally like systems play, but he is coaching these guys up pretty good.

Sticking with the positive today: I thought Johnson was very good for TB. I've liked him since his WJC days. Great speed and a difference maker.

Tonight was a game that Tampa Bay absolutely needed to win at home in regulation and instead wound up with another regulation loss.

http://www.tampabay.com/sports/hockey/lightning/bishop-lightning-fall-to-bruins-wvideo/2311624

TAMPA — The rhetoric coming out of another deflated Lightning dressing room Tuesday night sounded eerily familiar.

"Unacceptable," wing Alex Killorn said.

"That just can't happen," center Tyler Johnson said.

Unfortunately for Tampa Bay, its play spoke even louder.

With the Lightning in desperation mode, its playoff hopes on life support, it certainly didn't act like it in a crushing 4-3 loss to the Bruins. There were no excuses for this one, Tampa Bay falling to eight points behind Boston for the third spot in the Atlantic Division.

And there were no explanations from coach Jon Cooper, who has seen this type of inconsistent effort too many times in what's becoming a lost season for the preseason Stanley Cup favorite.

"Fifty games, I'm not too mystified anymore — it's becoming a regular occurrence," Cooper said. "How many times do I have to say 'consistency?' ''

Very good win against a team who is also desperate for points. I saw a fragile Tampa team and the Bruins took advantage. This is how they should play - definitely more confidence in them with the streak going.

Marchand is on another level right now! Krejci seems to be picking up. The power play is great, the penalty kill is excellent....there is still hope.

Big adjustment in the 2nd period of this game onward. They stopped playing the third man up high and sent him down low. It opened up the points, and generated opportunities.
