Meanwhile Sweeney on the way home...

There was so many chances tonight near the Buffalo net. Too many guys with stone hands. No finishers. Couldn’t put the puck in the ocean if they were standing in a boat. Overall, an unmotivated, poorly led, lackluster effort. Swayman should’ve had the first goal and the second goal was absolutely humiliating. That should be an ESPN low light. We gave up a touchdown. Holy smokes. What a score.
Should have had 1st goal? That shot was walked on via 1 timer over 100 mph between the circles

Gonna be hilarious watching the mood swings on this board after we beat Winnipeg at home on Thursday and everyone starts doing the mental gymnastics to try to work out a deal to get Miller or Pettersson again....
They will probably win and convincingly, too. They lose to the worst team in the East tonight, worst team in the West not long ago- you never know what you’re going to get out this clown show.

Rocket of a shot from the top of the circles. Buffalo feed said 100 mph. I don’t doubt what you say, but it is a straight on shot, no screen. You have to stop it. If speed was all it took, Chara would have been a 60 goal scorer.

Swayman really struggled in this game. He missed multiple straight shots with no screen. Each time he dropped into the butterfly early and Buffallo found the net under the crossbar.

He’s been very good lately but not tonight. They won't win many games unless he plays lights out.

Zadorov and Peeke got badly exposed in this one. They're not bad players, at all. They just have limitations, and when you put this much responsibility and TOI on them then the errors really start to pile up. Same goes for Lohrei defensively at this stage in his development when he's not getting enough shelter and support from his partner.

That's how it goes. The D has overall held up pretty well of late, all things considered. Losing Carlo as well just seemed to tip it over the edge. It doesn't help either that the Bruins' forwards are nowhere near as good defensively as the days when we had the likes of Bergy, Krejci and Foligno. Even DeBrusk learnt to be quite solid in the Bruins' end over time. Coyle seems to have regressed in that regard, Elias Lindholm is generally good in this if nothing else but struggling with form and fitness. So it all takes a toll.

No other solutions there but to get some troops back and hope it makes a significant difference. The forward group was always a big question mark for this season, the amount the D has also struggled has been far more surprising. Need to see how it looks with everyone available again, not to 'rescue' this season but to work out what exactly isn't working in there and how it might be fixed in the longer term.

There was a strange vibe tonight with close to 4,000 empty seats and thousands of Bruins fans who crossed the bridge.

Yes the Bruins were shorthanded but still .............. Their record against nonplayoff teams will doom them.

The Jekyll and Hyde Bruins continue their season. When you get smoked by the Buffalo Sabres you know changes need to be made, but Sweeney is now focused on replacing Pietreangelo at the 4 Nations sham. I know the B's were missing 3 of their top D, but still 7-2 to frigging Buffalo! They need to make a decision now on the direction they take, if they are buying you can't wait for the TDL Donny.

I missed a lot of the game because our #$&#^% internet provider is screwing around and we have had iffy internet for over a week. I was so angry with them yesterday, maybe a blessing in disguise last night.

The Jets tomorrow? Yikes.......I believe they have already thrashed us this season and the D is so weak. I scratch my head as to why Korpi wasn't in net last night, unless I'm missing something. I didn't know Carlo was out either so.....I hope our internet can be fixed soon. I loathe using my phone, unlike most people.

I went to bed after the 2nd, knowing I’d need to be up early to call a snow day etc.

Figured I’d regret not staying up to watch the 3rd if they pulled off the comeback.

Woof.

As others have said, watch them play Winnipeg tough and beat them.

Doesn’t matter to me at this point. They’re far too inconsistent to make any kind of serious playoff run.

Yeah, injuries.

But we know that this team is.

Do what must be done.
