Slaf should have been aggressive there instead of backing up, but that's him rather being safe than aggressive. Something thar can be learned, but isn't a big deal.

PP at least looked good.

At the drop of the puck though? It kills the flow of the game and it is unnecessary.
But that doesn't make it a bad/wrong call if it was warranted by the rule book. (Just like a cop wouldn't be in the wrong for giving you a speeding ticket for going 10-20 kph over the limit on the highway).

The inconsistency is the issue and they will never tackle that because fans inherently don't want that inconsistency to go away (even if they claim to want it). Refs will never be in a situation where people will think they do their job right.

Randomness or judgment. They call it when they feel like it because if they were to call per the rulebook, there'd be too many PP (even though players would adjust and this wouldn't happen, but that'd make the game sOfT)

So just poor judgment is what your actually saying as it impacted nothing

Fans have no problem if it actually had anything to do with the play especially when they "judge" clearer ones as ok

So great, you convinced me.

Refa just shit judgement

No one cares
Anytime is good as long as you call it every time there is inteference. And if they did player would stop interfering and the game would improve.
Yeah, and you would end up with high-speed pick-up hockey. Game management is the reason why a team with a 3-4 goal lead ends up losing on some nights. If there were a standard I would agree with your post but there isn't, it changes by the game.

The one consistency about NHL officiating is it's inconsistency.

Asking refs to judge on whether an infraction had an impact on the play before making a call is calling for inconsistency/randomness too.

Not to mention that the rule book is pretty clear : Nowhere does it mention that infractions have to have an impact on the play to be called.
