Hilarious game. Trading for Georgiev may prove to be a brilliant move if we end up with Schaefer.

Man, it must be exhausting if you're not on team tank. To me, this was one of the best games of the season. Playing a team fighting for 1st overall pick with you and leading them 5-1 in the first only to end up losing in regulation time. Plus, Celebrini scored and Askarov wasn't playing. If you're playing the long game as a fan, you should be happy. I am.

What a game. Need more of this against CHI and other bottom feeders. Being the worst team guarantees top-3 picks. That is more important than any win this season.

Hot take: A lot of hot takes here.
Wario is light years better at coaching than Quinn was, or ever will be, and that's coming from someone who sympathizes with the position in which Quinn was placed. We're a much more competitive squad, far more entertaining to watch this season, there's some semblance of a system in place, and they're also seems to be a much higher level of buy-in with the players. The Little Warsofski is also the youngest coach in the league, in his first season being in charge behind the bench. We're just a couple years into a rebuild, and the talent level on this team leaves something to be desired. We essentially have a bunch of 4-7 defenseman, a couple of middle sixers, a bunch of forwards that would be fourth liners or call-ups on contenders, and Celebrini. All this to say that it's gonna take time, and there will be major rough patches. Be patient. Don't pull an Ottawa.
Thus concludes my Sharks-apologist posting for the evening.

I dunno. I read stuff like this and it makes me wonder if the coach is in over his head. I realize it's not his job to give good answers to questions, but...

I get the idea of short-term pain for long-term gain, but I think there's a fair argument that the nth-order effects of losing so much will override the (slightly) higher draft position.

Players and coaches being snide/glib with the media always irritate me. It's their job to ask questions, and it is part of your job to answer them.

He’s 100% in over his head and I’m starting to think he was hired partly for that reason. Grier knew it was gonna be as much of a learning experience for him as the kids so he sorta knew (hoped) he wouldn’t have any immediate success.

Imagine giving up 4 to Boston in the third with a lead, saying the same garbage and then repeating the same only worse against a lesser team. It tells me War doesn’t really know how to rally the troops and without any sort of leadership on the ice and veteran leadership off, there’s no reason to expect to see different results or lessons learned this year.

No offense and I’m sure the mods will reprimand me or whatever and I accept it, but sincerely, you’re kind of an asshole. To have the audacity to come in here on a rough loss where you can clearly see people pissed off and be all, “It MuSt Be ExHaUsTiNg To CaRe” is f***ing condescending and obnoxious. Yeah everyone is gonna say “just put him on ignore” and I probably will, but not before saying, it must be exhausting only caring about an organization when they’re good.

I certainly hope he hired him thinking that he would be a great tank commander coach because if he hired him thinking he was going to be a good developmental coach, then I seriously question whether Grier should be our GM going forward.

This was the worst game I've watched in terms on emotion.... Yeah this Sharks needs a reset really badly, this is not acceptable.

Hilarious armchair coaching takes in here.

What exactly would people like to see other than maybe calling a timeout? Bench the bottom two lines and run 6 forwards and 4 dmen for the last period?

1/3 of our top 6 were literal children two years ago and have never played 50 games at this level in this timeframe before. The bottom 6 is terrible and the goaltending is simply not good enough although I would really only put that 6th goal on Georgiev. Closing out games in the best league in the world is really really REALLY hard to do. Oh yea, they also played a game last night…

Shitty result, but this team is leaps and bounds better than last season. At least they are competing in these games and not getting absolutely boat raced.
Are they?

23-24 after 50 games: 14-32-4, 10RW
24-25 after 50 games: 14-30-6, 10RW

I get being upset about the game but this type of stuff is going to happen during this process. This game isn’t indicative of anything long term for either the players or the coach or the GM. Warsofsky has won at every level but he’s a rookie coach. If we’re going to give Celebrini and Smith slack for being rookies themselves, I don’t see why we’d treat the coach differently. Nobody is going to come out clean in a rebuild season but let them have the opportunity to learn and build. It’s still just one game and we need a lot of patience.

You can't accuse anyone who's been regularly posting here over the past few seasons of "only caring about an organization when they're good." That poster is completely correct that the Sharks finishing last is the best possible outcome at this point. We were only five points "ahead" of Nashville coming into this game so blowing it in regulation was extremely clutch.

Doug Houda is a quality defense coach. The players know what they're supposed to do. They played way too soft. My guess is that they are still getting over the flu and just ran out of gas in the second period, especially after playing back to back. Zone entries became ridiculously weak. They went from the San Jose Sharks to the San Jose Marshmellows.

There is no way these losses compare to last year's 10-1 and 10-2 losses. In those games we were never in it. They were unwatchable.

Losing a lead means at least we were in it. If we were looking to make the playoffs these games would sting. They don't. It's just an embarrassment for Warsofsky.

And no way were the first five goals Georgiev's fault. We should have won 5 - 2. If I were the coach I'd tell the skaters to buy Georgiev some laundry pins because they left him out to dry.
5 road games, 8 days, second half of a back to back, and a viral bug going through the locker room. Makes some sense for why there was nothing there at the end. Not saying it's all fine and dandy, but there are real reasons as to why some of that happened that isn't just "coaches suck and don't know what they're doing".

Nashville is going to make the playoffs. 9 or 10 points back with 36 games to play. Finally getting some production from the guys that they're paying lots of money to. They've played at 101 point pace the last 6 weeks. Keep that up and they'll be around 86 points. Play a smidge better than that and get to 90-92, they're going to be right there with Calgary/Vancouver for the final WC spot.
