What changes are in any way realistic to actually help this team be better than the worst team in the league?
I don’t know, but talent or not, having two massive breakdowns like this in the third is unacceptable. That’s a coaching issue and a leadership issue.

Grier is playing 3-D chess.
What concerns me about this game is that if Grier really sucks at picking coaches, we are going to need a new GM and coach. You can't have a GM that can't tell the good coaches from the bad ones.

I get that the Sharks are not exactly a prize job for a coach right now, but frankly the last job search was less than inspiring.

What the f*** happened!? I watched the best period of Sharks hockey I'd seen in 5 years, and then had to stop watching and we gave up 6 straight goals!??!!?

Jesus louizus.

FWIW, Smith looked awesome in period 1 and Celebrini had one of his many "top tier, most excellent" first periods as well. Deserved a secondary on the Walman goal.

I'll read this thread tomorrow to get a sense of the emotional journey.

Darn it, so much was trending positive but that 8 game losing streak and now just finding new ways to lose means that GMMG needs to get rid if this entire staff. Bringing back many that were part of last years worst team ever is one thing, with AHL talent dressing in NHL uniforms. Right now with the talent he was Warsofsky is under F***king underachieving, if that could even be possible with a team that only got 47 points last year. The youth cannot be stunted by mismanagement and a coaching staff over their heads. Sucks they need to go again back to the coaching carousel and find someone who thinks they can fix the defense maise, compete every shift and develop the high end skill. I would say its being kind to think they got some of the compete right but everything else is D- from this team. You are what your record says you are
What talent? Every night we are at minimum icing one entire line and one defensive pairing with non-NHL quality players, and every single other line and pair is playing at least one slot too high.

It's a talent issue. We were lucky to be up 5-1 in the first place, and the lack of talent proved out in the end.

I don’t know why no timeout was called in the 3rd to calm everyone down. Giving up 6 unanswered goals is simple unacceptable. JFC lol

s a talent issue. We were lucky to be up 5-1 in the first place, and the lack of talent proved out in the end.
Going up 5-1 takes talent, blowing that lead and giving up 4 in a third period to lose after doing THE EXACT same thing 2 nights earlier against two mediocre, non-playoff teams is a major fundamental issue.

It actually does. We give up 3rd period leads because we are not that good and when better teams get desperate they beat us. It's fine, winning now does not benefit us at all.
3-1 lead, yeah sure. Not 5-1. This was Warsofsky not knowing what the f*** he is doing.
Call a timeout to kill momentum? Nah. Change up strategy to get more pucks on net? Nah.

I have zero doubts his response will be to put Kunin or Goodrow up in the top six again, because he is a potato with no balls to try anything that could actually impact this team.

our bottom 6 is such booty, defense doesn't have a legit tough comps pairing, and our goalie choices are leaky on the ice or leaky off the ice.

a lack of talent as well as a lack of leadership and a lack of trust. Point is it's not simply "oh the players aren't good enough". These aren't "make-a-wish" recipients who have never seen ice before. You could very easily rewatch every goal and notice very obvious bad decisions, laziness or panic.

This is a great point. Think about the Sharks back in the day; those great teams would sleepwalk through two periods against the basement teams, only to wake up in the third and win the game...and all the fans on here would rightly point out that it wasn't a sustainable strategy...

About a third of every game we play features players who are pretty much as good as "Make-a-Wish" recipients would be.

I like how the Sharks now seem to be totally on board with suffering for Schaefer. Let the tank roll!
Schaefer stock's been dropping to 5th since world's jr, the Sharks should absolutely go for BPA (Best Player Available)if they get 1OA again, not reach for a need like defense. In a rebuild, grabbing a player with the highest upside is key, and you can always fill in defense later. Elite offensive talent, like a top-tier forward or someone with game-changing skill, is way harder to find, while defensive prospects can be found later through trade that could help the franchise down the road.

My bet Is on James Hagens. He is so fun to watch like a Celebrini 2.0. Imagine the Sharks has Celebrini centering line 1 and James Hagens centering Line 2. Smith centering line 3.

Doug Houda is a quality defense coach. The players know what they're supposed to do. They played way too soft. My guess is that they are still getting over the flu and just ran out of gas in the second period, especially after playing back to back. Zone entries became ridiculously weak. They went from the San Jose Sharks to the San Jose Marshmellows.

There is no way these losses compare to last year's 10-1 and 10-2 losses. In those games we were never in it. They were unwatchable.

Losing a lead means at least we were in it. If we were looking to make the playoffs these games would sting. They don't. It's just an embarrassment for Warsofsky.

And no way were the first five goals Georgiev's fault. We should have won 5 - 2. If I were the coach I'd tell the skaters to buy Georgiev some laundry pins because they left him out to dry.

90% of the last 3 pages is this lol...

First period was fun, the rest is good for the tank to get Schaefer. Onward!
