The thing with Kakko is that he isn't creating anything in the o-zone, but he's in that zone more than anybody else. Like through these two periods, only him and Brodzinski among forwards have a positive CF% (11-7 and 12-7 respectively), and only the two of them plus Kreider have positive xGF%. And this is pretty consistently what he does.

He isn't creating scoring chances, but he's not anywhere near the top of the list when it comes to ways we can improve our forward corps.

That's what my eye test was telling me too. Kakko hasn't been great but he's been about the least bad out of a team that sucks right now. This team's offensive game is putrid, the entire approach stinks and the players know it first hand.
