Pretty cool to have the hottest Goalie in the League now, and a solid D, and solid depth, and solid Team D, and...
The whole last 4:30* of gm with the 2 PK's Carbs ran with:
F: Dowd/Duhaime alternating with Eller/Protas
D: Fever/Carlson > Roy/TVR > Fever/Carlson > Roy/Carlson
*minus the 3 sec shift of WillyOVStrome when Willy highsticked
Agree in principal, but hoping that Caps' coaches are simply deploying guys where they can have the greatest potential impact. JC6 is second to JC74 in average TOI. Remaining d are at least a minute/game behind Chych. I don't know what the advanced stats say about Chych's d work, but I'd rather have him spending more time on the PP than PK.Interesting that Chych is not trusted in these situations.
I think he's gonna get 8x8+ but for that price you would be hoping for an all situations guy.
Good point. We're also paying Sandin pretty good money.Interesting that Chych is not trusted in these situations.

Buyer beware….of the sheltered man in a contract year who doesn’t do much heavy lifting in his own end.Interesting that Chych is not trusted in these situations.

But JC74 also plays PP1 and he's on the PK. If JC6 were one of teams best PKers, I think he'd be out there, too. Especially at the end of the game, when the game is on the line.Agree in principal, but hoping that Caps' coaches are simply deploying guys where they can have the greatest potential impact. It's a bit of a flawed metric, but I'll use it since I agree with your points.Chychrun isn't Carlson. He isn't on that level. He never has been.
You can make the argument that the Caps have unlocked something, but his underlying metrics are terrible. For example: WSH 2425 Chychrun With-or-Without You. Basically every player on the Caps has a higher xGF% without Chychrun. And I've already gone over his sheltered usage.
The Caps undoubtedly have more sophisticated stats than the publicly available ones. So maybe their stats say that Chychrun can absolutely reproduce his offense and that his defense (despite being sheltered) is good enough. In which case, they may re-sign Chychrun to a big number.
But if their stats resemble the publicly available ones, the Caps have to be hesitant about signing him to a long-term, big-money deal.

So Chych has similar generational abilities to easily overlook this deficiency like Ovechkin? Lol….Good thing they didn't give Ovi a big contract cause he doesn't play on the PK.
