So. Trouba should be benched but he scored a goal and probably said loud things to the team tonight so he obviously won’t be.

I really can’t believe how bad he is and it’s painful to think about what this team would look like if that money was allocated to a player that was worth it.

He wouldn't be also because no one is benching their captain during a playoff run. Torts did it with his captain in the regular season and it caused an uproar. It is what it is, but at least he's no longer getting top 4 minutes at even strength.

That's 83%. Down from 98%. That is a significant drop. Also, how many scenarious was the team on the other end a team of Carolina's quality? If anyone thinks after the atrocity they put out today that they have an 83% shot of winning this series I have a bridge to sell them.

LAK had 100 pts in 2013 when they came back from 3-0 vs the Sharks (who had 111 pts in the regular season).

TB had 110 pts in 2021-22 and faced the Panthers in the 2nd round who had 122 pts. TB swept them.

Canes had 113 pts in 2022-23 and faced NJD in the 2nd round who had 112 pts. Canes took the first two, NJD won Game 3, and CAR won Games 4 and 5.

Avs had 119 pts in 2021-22 and faced the Blues in the 2nd round who had 109 pts. Neither team went up 3-0 in this series.

1976-77 Stanley Cup Finals had Montreal with 132 pts vs PHI with 112 pts. Montreal swept them.

2010 Western Conference Finals. Blackhawks had 112 pts. Sharks had 113 pts. Blackhawks swept them.

2000-01 Stanley Cup Finals. Avs had 118 pts. Devils had 111 pts. Avs win in 7, but neither team was up 3-0 in the series. Mostly back and forth.

There's only been 93 times in NHL history where a team had 110+ pts in the regular season.

Not sure what you're trying to say.

That's literally impossible.

23 such series have gone to game 7 and the team that initially went up 3-0 is 19-4 in game 7.

It's hard to lose four in a row.

Technically, only 9 of the 209 series where a team started 3-0 saw the series go to a Game 7.

The team up 3-0 won Game 6 a total of 14 times.

The team up 3-0 won Game 7 a total of 5 times. The team down 3-0 won Game 7 a total of 4 times.

The team up 3-0 has won either Game 6 or Game 7 a total of 19 times. The team up 3-0 lost the series 4 times.

The team up 3-0 is 5-4 in Game 7's.

Rephrased:

Of the 209 series, 186 of them don't even make it to a Game 6.

23 of the 209 series where a team started 3-0 made it to a Game 6 or 7. 14 times, the series is over in Game 6 (the team that was up 3-0 finally won a 4th game). 9 times it goes to a Game 7. The team up 3-0 is 5-4 in these Game 7's.

So many people thinking with their whole chest that we'll be one of very few teams in North American sports history to blow a 3-0 series lead tells me we are very much used to this.

Honest question. Do you honestly think that we have a better chance to win the series up 3-2 now because we were 3-0 than if we alternated wins in the first 5 games? Because I get it I'm relying a little too much on voodoo and past years and momentum and my emotions that I'm not handling very well. But if you take that away, we're up 3-2, not up 3-0. It's completely irrelevant that were up 3-0 at one point.

I really hate the term gambler's fallacy. Because people misuse it all the time when I mean something else. BUT in this case people saying "it's hard to lose 4 in a row", @Machinehead of all people in fact. We don't have to lose 4 in a row. We have to lose 2 in a row. I understand that hockey games aren't coin flips and momentum and desperation are a thing but it's still not accurate to say that it's hard to lose 4 in a row. Also, we just recently lost 4 in a row to Tampa, albeit it was a 2-0 and not a 3-0 lead, but that's irrelevant now.
