Wearing a yellow sweater means you can’t get hit? Hey, we should have ALL of them wear yellow, then they can’t check us!

Just a small thing, but here is how our home vs away games have broken down so far in the postseason:

Monday - 1 home
Tuesday - 1 home, 1 away
Wednesday - 2 home
Thursday - 1 home
Friday - 1 home, 2 away
Saturday -
Sunday - 2 away

There's nothing to it but bad luck, but still. As the #2 overall seed, our home games have been almost exclusively on workdays as opposed to weekends. That kind of sucks.

Why does this matter? Ask someone who was at that Friday home game with the 8pm start. PNC Arena is loud enough on a Thursday when people are scrambling to get from work to the game. When they have time to tailgate, get drunk in the parking lot, and get to their seats before puck drop, it's bedlam. There is a very noticeable difference in the intimidation factor.

I mention this because Game 6 is scheduled for Saturday, and Game 7 for Monday. Jersey would be getting the best possible home environment for the former, and the latter inevitably would not feel like a top-tier Game 7 environment.

Side note question - I wonder when the conference finals would start if the semis are finished up within the next 3-5 days? I can't remember if the NHL syncs up the east/west schedules or allows time in between semis and conference. Not that the Canes are moving on, but I have to work nights tues-thursday which blows, but I'm hoping I only miss one game. I think it'll likely be two though.

Edit: I asked ChatGPT to give me the average starting date for the ECF for years 2000-2019 excluding lock outs, and the weird years 2020-2021. That date is May 17th. Last year was June 1st. That's happened one other time since 2000 in 2013.

2000: May 13
2001: May 12
2002: May 11
2003: May 10
2004: Not held due to the NHL lockout
2005: Not held due to the NHL lockout
2006: May 18
2007: May 10
2008: May 9
2009: May 16
2010: May 14
2011: May 14
2012: May 12
2013: June 1
2014: May 17
2015: May 16
2016: May 13
2017: May 13
2018: May 11
2019: May 9

That's what happens when your playoffs begin on a Monday night and not the Wednesday or Thursday night it used to be.

Actually IIRC the 2006 playoffs began at least for our team on a Saturday night. But that was also an Olympic year.
