If Slaf has a bad or mediocre game tonight, he’s gonna sit the next one just to get a look at the game from afar and extend his nhl stay a little longer

I think Slaf has been under-used and had better games than a lot of our dead wood, I'd sit Hoffman, Drouin, Dadonov in any order before sitting Slaf. What's up with all these softer than butter perimeter heartless soulless players clogging up our middle six, Slaf ain't the issue with the team, he's been driving up the play and is already more efficient than all of these plugs along the boards, and he'll just keep getting better.

I have seen enough. I wanted to see Slaf on one of the top 2 lines because WTH, why not ? The 4th line? I think the time has come for the young man to be sent down to the AHL.

I think Slaf is playing protected minutes (granted with some slugs) and from what I can tell he's done ok. My expectation is that he simply holds his own and does look out of place. I think he's done that and will continue to do that. I am in no rush to put extra pressure on him by playing with Suzuki and CC. Let him marinate.

Jackeye would make Kassian wish he hit another tree. :D
As Lavoie pointed out this week, only one of the Habs players who were on the ice when Kassian wiped out Monty last season and did nothing, is still on the team.

And that would be Hoffman but not on account of Hughes not having tried to move him.

Bet you that scene will not happen again.

He should be eased in the scoreless 2nd PP.

Agreed. I also believe they are coaching him to play this way. The general theme is to improve as the season moves along. This is all about getting his feet wet and learning the reliability area of the game.

Imagine putting him with Suzuki/Caufield and he struggles. Imagine his confidence and what fans would say then? Best to bring him along and let him make the little gains as the season moves along (AHL or NHL).

Yeah I definitely get the Bergevin PTSD Habs fans have from past players but it's not the same situation. Slafkovsky playing bottom-six minutes so they can ease him in to NHL speed, and let him adjust to the rink and the grind without overwhelming him with top competition is very different than coaches screaming about defensive mistakes and demoting a young player to the 4th line as a punishment.

Xhekaj can take Kassian, he's a little dog while our guy is a pitbull lol.

Being on the 4th line is not a bad thing because he gets to play against weaker competition. He clearly isn't ready for more than that right now.
My sense is he is not ready for the NHL , I just thought it might be fun to see him on the "Kid Line" for a game. I have noticed that sometimes a skill player does better with better skilled players ( which is why some guys do better at the NHL level than the AHL level ). But top 6 in the AHL seems to be where he needs to play.

Nowwwww I get it!!! MSL prefer to keep Offman-Drouin and Dadonov in the lineup tonight instead of Pezzetta and Pitlick because they stand a chance to get injured by Kassian and go LTIR for the remainder of the season and free up over 4.5M minimum for each of them.

Montembeault should do what Carey did to Palmieri a few years ago but wait and make sure Xhekaj is on the ice to make sure he's getting help that time. Someone really need to adress that situation tonight and I believe the X-Man will take the lead on this.

Go Arber! Go!

This is going to be a scrappy mean-spirited game; I expect both teams will be calling each other names with a combined total of 50 minutes of penalties at least!
