Back on home ice after a humbling experience in the D. We haven't had back to back losses since December 12 to 14. We are yo-yoing up and down the standings. Currently sitting 11th with 48 pts in the Eastern Conference while Boston having played two games more sits at 6th with 50 pts.

It goes without saying that every game is a must win.

Time to put Dobes back in net!

Not sure if anybody talked about this yet but with Markstrom hurt, Allen probably gets 40 games. 25 more games needed with 32 total Devils games left.

Monty had a lot of shots against the Wings and it could have been more but the Wings sat back and held the lead in the 2nd half. At one point, it was on pace for 50 shots against Monty.

Anyways... Yes, Dobes should get this start.

• Dobes needs to start and Monty can't start consecutive games anymore unless there's a solid 2-3 day break between games.
• Pezz can't play anymore so they need to come up with a solution here. The team is tired, as I predicted, and now our top players are taking extra shifts and getting even more taxed.
• Hughes and Gorton need to come down to Marty's office and talk to him about PP2. In big games, close games, we can't be taking off PP1 at the 1 minute mark. They don't have enough personnel on that unit to do anything and it really cost us last game by taking a penalty and getting 0 shots on net.

Depends on how much time Markstrom needs. If Allen performs well and they stay in the 2/3 spot in the Metro, they will not be rushing Markstrom back. They need him fully healthy for the playoffs and I really don't think they care about the difference between 3rd or 2nd rounder. They are looking at their playoff run.

You are not wrong though. It would be a lot of stars for Allen. But what choice to they have?

Sorry, I'm not the type to say never. This is all about how long Markstrom will be out. He is expected to be out 4-6 weeks. 6 weeks takes it to Mar 6th. I understand the probability. I suspect he will be at 21 or 22 starts by the 4 nations break. Maybe 5 more starts by March 6th taking him to 26/27 starts ish.

Devils have three 4 game weeks right around the time Markstrom is scheduled to be back:
* Mar 2-8
* Mar 9-15
* Mar 23-29

It all depends on if Markstrom does not have any setbacks and I suspect they lighten his load when he is back. They had major goalie issues last year and I am sure they will do everything they can to ensure he is 100% healthy come playoffs.

More info came out today... 4-6 weeks. The recovery is tricky on this injury to a 34 year old. There could very well be setbacks

Yup. However, we would need Markstrom's injury to linker on more than 6 weeks. As it stands now, Allen is projected to top out around 30 games.

To make that a 2nd allen needs to play in 25 of remaining 32 and devils need to make play-offs. Allen is 6-8-1 this year, team is 8 pts up on 9th in conference. The 3 teams in 9th all have 2 games in hand on devils. I don't think Devils make playoffs if Allen starts 25 more games
