A shot from 30 feet out is not a scoring chance. This team plays the perimeter, and they don't try to create opportunities. They would rather cycle the puck that have someone skate a lane to the net. The third man up high is the reason this team can't put the puck in the net at the rate we are expecting. You lose the 3rd man up high, and let him skate lanes or cause havok in front of the net, and we are scoring at a higher pace.

Actually, a 30 foot shot is a pretty good scoring chance.

No wonder they can't score.

So not trying to create opportunities, doesn't that seem a bit odd to you?

Well stated and true.

Not only did they shutdown the Hawks for 58 minutes, they outshot them and out-chanced them. With a defense of Morrow, Liles, McQuaid, a 20 year old & a 40 year old.

Exactly.

How some feel that it is Julien's fault that players don't capitalize on chances, it's beyond me. One thing would be if we always played like crap, but for the majority of games we outplay & outchance opponents. That's the best a coach can hope to achieve.
Reality is that the roster he has been given has steadily decreased in quality since 2012-13 and frankly, a coach can only do so much. When Julien - in my opinion one of the best coaches in the league - will be gone, the chances that Bruins will see an improvement with the same roster are slim. Very slim. Then, the same folks wanting to see his head roll, will be the first to lament his absence. Mark my words.

With Julien's teams, it is entrenched that you must think defense first, so yes, real scoring opportunities go by the wayside, because players, especially the young ones will peel back rather then risk being caught out of position. How often do we see this team take long harmless shots from the wings, looks good on the shot count, we must lead the entire NHL by a mile with non-scoring chance shots.

How many years did we suffer through watching an odd man rush happen, only to have Chris Kelly peel off and rotate back to cover, which negated the advantage and relegated the puck carrier to dump and chase? Yet we still have people saying that crap as well as long range, unscreened shots are good scoring chances. I swear the fan base here is suffering with Stockholm syndrome, where they truly believe every player on the roster has to have off the charts defensive awareness before they can actually play in this league...

30 feet out would be a scoring chance if anyone else was willing to get close to the net. Time in and time out no-one is close! So frustrating.

Yes can't remember the last time a Bruin forward banged in a rebound.Or had a lot of traffic in front of goalie. You can fire a 100 shots at a goalie majority of the time if they can see it there gonna stop it.

Well, the good news is that the Bruins are taking their moms to the next game. I don't know anybody who wants to disappoint momma!

I think I met a few of you when I attended the Bruins/Jets game back in November with Fenway. I was the chick wearing Blackhawks gear. While I went absolutely crazy over Hossa's goal and am glad to get the win, that was one heck of a game!

Good luck the rest of the season, until we play you again in April, that is!

I really wish we played Chicago more than twice a year.

At least you seemed to enjoy TD Garden much more than Verizon Center in Washington.

and Rene is better :D

First period against Detroit. Relentless forecheck, swift puck movement, a guy always in the goalie's grill. That team looked like world beaters (for 20 minutes).

Coach, and I, agree with you Tom.

“It’s been a challenge,†he said. “We have to have a better nose for the net. We’ve to get more guys to be determined to go to the front of the net and stand there and do their jobs. It’s not a fun job. But it’s a job that needs to be done.

“At this stage, right now, we are not viewed as a high-skilled team. So we have to be willing to go to the net. We’ve got to be willing to do it the dirty way, and the dirty way is by getting some net-front presence and grinding it out in that net-front area, so that’s where our team is right now.â€

They are so afraid of screwing up is what I think. If they get too close to the net then they're out of defensive position for the back check. Is that an un-adjusted system? Is that skittishness to not leave Tuukka and the fragile D hanging. Don't know. Talent and shots are not really the problem to me.

The third line is a mess and does nothing. You have Tim Schaller playing with Krejci when he's noting but a 4th liner and the once hot 4th line has cooled off(which isn't a surprise). That's the problem, they have one and 2/3 lines.

Putting Backes on the 3rd line is giving me flashbacks to when Eriksson was only allowed to play with Soderberg and Krejci would get Seth Griffith or some other plug night in and night out.

I get that the team doesn't have great depth, but maybe load up you top 2 lines as best as you can and play the **** out of them.

Also, it might be time to send Czarnik and Blidh down and bring up Chelarik and Debrusk to see what they might bring.

You guys should realize how lucky you are to be able to choose whichever coach you think is the best choice, based on competence, assuming Claude goes. I would hate for you guys to get Gallant, and to a lesser degree Capuano.

On the other hand, I am legit curious about whether CJ would be a good replacement if he came back to MTL. Not like we'll ever unburden ourselves with Therrien.

You really want your Bruins to accumulate MORE losses? :D

Jim Cornelison is better!

Yep, I did like TD better than Verizon Center.
As much as I love Rene, Jim Cornelison is not better, He's the BEST. Never heard an anthem sung as well as that. We'll give you Rene and the organist for Jim and Panarin. Might even throw in Fenway!

Nah, I'll keep my Breadman and my Jim Cornelison! I feel so fortunate as a Chicago Blackhawks season ticket holder to hear him live at the 35 or so games I attend per season.

I have quoted this for you to read, Fenway!!! :D:yo:

We'll see about Fenway, ha! He seems to think Santarpio's is better than Chicago pizza. :shakehead I don't think so! LOL!
