What does this even mean? Mika was the 1C and was coming off of several very good seasons. The signing was understandable.
The signing was understandable and a great value, at the time. Theres no fair argument for criticizing the signing.

Not cutting bait when it becomes incredibly obvious that he’s not the answer at 1C certainly is something that can be argued though.

I heard from a guy here that you need to access some kind of road to score even strength goals, even 41 year old Blake wheeler has tied zibanejad with 7 ESG on the season.

You can't score goals unless you go to the protected part of the ice and prance around like a long haired fairy.
Missed your chance to continue the “vegan” theme, but ok

lol

Our 2011-2012 team is my favorite team of all time. I was 3 when we won the cup in 1994 so I dont really remember that.

The 2011-2012 team either lead the league or was near top of the league in fights, hits, etc. every play after the whistle theyd be messing with the opposition. That team was an absolute pain in the ass for the opposition. Id take the 2011-2012 team over this team in a nanosecond

I would too, but the main reason that team was better is we had Henrik Lundqvist in his best year as a pro and this year we have Igor Shesterkin in his worst year as a pro.

Cutting bait how? I'm sure after this year and with that contract it will be very difficult to move him especially with a NMC. They can't even buy him out because it doesn't even save that much. I'm afraid they are stuck with him.

No way... Torts had that team playing the 6 goalie system.

Hank was great... But that team had a blue collar mentality and if you didn't "play the right way" you didn't play.

That team put on its hard hats and went to work every night.

Can’t wait to watch Brady Tkachuk bully this team tomorrow. Maybe I’ll just watch the Royal Rumble instead.

Quinn had the job of pushing a crap Rangers team into the playoffs or he'd get fired. He and Gallant would have treated Hughes and Stützle exactly the same as he did Laf and Kakko, using the same logic that the NHL is not a development league. LOL.
Granted, some of these absolute top talents will flourish even if you were to "mistreat them". But not everyone is Connor McDavid. It's up to the club to develop those players and put them into positions to succeed.

That said, there's plenty of looking in the mirror for Kakko himself. He has never really managed to improve his skating or shot during the summer, I'm not saying he's slacking but maybe not the right things? TBH, this is also where a club of New York Rangers statue should be able to step in and help.

Brady has been like a moody child this year. Throwing a few temper tantrums, yet doing f*** all to dig Ottawa out of their ditch. He's nothing to be scared about.

Then they played the Devils...or should I say, stopped.

Granted, losing Sauer didn't help matters, but I never seen a team just collectively quit the way they did.

100%

But playing that way takes its toll, and that core’s window never would have lasted very long.

Not to mention that team relied upon generational goaltending…

Frankly, I’m not sure what the answer is either. But I do think people fail to realize the opportunity cost incurred by not acting quickly in these situations.

I’m not necessarily advocating for trading him midseason because you’re not going to have an opportunity to acquire a 1C prior to the playoffs. But the second the offseason begins, Drury needs to do everything in his power to move on from that contact. Even if it means getting poor value back in the deal. Simply moving on quickly will bring more long term value than what you lose out on by selling low. Again, the opportunity cost incurred by holding here is absolutely massive.
