Bright side: Absolutely no excuse for not getting the kids as many opportunities as possible now.

Jones looks like he's going to be good, but he has some growing and learning to do for sure.

Quinn is going to keep trying to win for the playoffs till they are officially eliminated. Which is a mistake if he keeps forcing struggling vets, the Blackwell experiment is over now, I think he should move the kids up, roll these lines...

Lafreniere - Mika - Buchnevich
Panarin - Strome - Kravtsov
Kreider - Chytil - Kakko
4th line

What do you think?

I didn't notice Kreider.

He probably had good results because Kaapo Kakko is pretty effective WHEN HE ISN'T THE VETERAN ON HIS LINE!!

I also thought Lafreniere looked better despite getting dragged down by Zibanejad's rotting corpse.

It's almost as if putting three guys together who all lack confidence and haven't quite adapted yet isn't f***ing great but we do it.

It's poetic... We're Charmin ULTRA soft....

... and when you wipe your ass, we get our ULTRA Soft Charmin covered in shit David Quinn Hockey.

Quinngleberries?

Zibby. sure he has the talent. Sure he will show up against a weak goalie and defense and score at will. Like his buddy Kreider.
He will never do what big game Brass balls did in the playoffs for us.
we won't get value for him really so JG is gonna have to decide whether to sign him or not.
And he loses faceoff after faceoff after faceoff

Mika was our best player last playoff run. Not counting the play in vs Carolina.

Listen, Blackwell had a nice little run, but he's not a top-6 player. He's just not. Play Kravtsov with Panarin and Strome.

But Blackwell was Quinn's genius in action! The Rangers almost (NOT) made the playoffs! Come on, man, the playoffs are important! This team would have, for sure, made a huge impact under Quinn in the postseason. We all know it.

The team is too young, the management is still cap tied to make the additions they need, and the coaching staff has exhausted their value as the "teaching" coach (which I've personally never bought). Team will get some relief next year in cap, team will get a year older, and hopefully we have a new staff. Growing pains.

I would beg, bribe and threaten Kreider to waive for the expansion draft.

He’s a passenger. He puts up points, despite his hot/cold gig but he doesn’t drive play and he brings no intensity despite having THE best toolset to do so on the roster, if not one of the best in the league. He plays like he’s Blackwell’s size and Blackwell plays like he’s Kreider’s. His contract will be an anchor and the team needs a different flavor. We’re not moving Bread, Laf or KK. There’s no room in the top six for Kreider going forward and he doesn’t justify that money on the third line. His production will also plummet with significantly reduced minutes.

Team needs a top six player who has a motor and an edge. We don’t have a single one on the roster. A 4th liner like Lemieux wouldn’t change shit. It has to be an impact player.

Maybe excusable if you give them support on the breakout with the D pair and time to work into it and get comfortable.

Honestly, pack it in for the rest of the year and see what you have in Lafreniere, Kakko, Kravtsov, and Jones. Try Kravtsov at center to see if he can hack it or if the team needs to look out of house for an upgrade.

Time to give Chytil a real look too. Some people here say he has 1C potential. I don't see it (too weak in the defensive and neutral zones), but he has played with an injured hand. He was good in the first period before things went pearshaped. Also what's the point evaluating anything playing Quinn hockey. I'd like to see what is there with a professional coach.

Trouba’s gotta be the guy named captain no? Actually works well in 6 years you can then give it to a 24 or so year old lafreniere

Yeah I'm not paying Mika anything near 8.5/9 million per especially if it's long term. His pal CK already robbed us blind it seems.

I think that was the exact top 9 I wanted to see since Kravtsov cleared Covid-19 protocol.

The more I think about it, the more I think the Rangers should more or less stand pat this summer with the exception of taking care of the expiring contracts one way or another.

I'd see if the long term answer to the center problem is already in house. Give Chytil (or even Kravtsov, I'm coming around on the idea) a good chance at it. If neither take the brass ring, start looking next season and next summer at out of house options. A flat cap is going to make a lot of players that we didn't think would be available, available due to buyouts and other teams being pressed against the cap.

If this team loses out the rest of the way I could see a situation where maybeee there’s an internal discussion to fire Quinn

I still think Sullivan or someone like him being magically canned in the summer is the only way we don’t see Quinn back to start next year.

...Actually, he did quit...but cool story, bro
Not really. He had a different opinion on how to develop his game. And he used his fair and negotiated right to do so. And he has been proven correct so far. And I think JD and co would totally agree.

It’s actually a positive story about constructive cooperation.

Ya, it feels like management is caught between stay the course and do something big this summer. We need to see what we have here with all these kids left and right without adding a single dollar we can't afford to give out for one final maybe-maybe not playoff expectations year.

I agree he looked shaky but I also don't think he got hemmed in too much in a short sample.

He looked talented for sure going forward, and completely out of his league (literally) in front of Igor, but that was expected. I see why the Rangers like him, a "modern" d-man similar to Girard on the Avs.
