This whole board looked at the lineup before the game, saw we had one pair and somehow was like "yeah, we're gonna dominate here and the only way we lose is if we don't try hard"
I thought we actually were playing well until the penalties completely killed our flow. Undisciplined hockey was our problem.
They won 6 of 8 games with Trouba out before the Islanders game.

Listen everyone, big picture wise— we’re in a much better spot drafting a higher pick this summer rather than out in 4-5 against any other Eastern team. This team is not ready yet. Need to trim the fat— Rooney, Howden, Smith, PDG and decide to move one of our stars for some moxy and grit.

There is no way Blackwell should get top six minutes the rest of the way, it’s over Quinn, get Krav off the 4th line, start letting Chytil get more minutes over Strome, kids on PP1 etc...

I thought Laf looked good with Zbad and Buch. He's coming along. He should stay there for the rest of the season. Only other change that needs to happen is Kravtsov should be playing with bread. Blackwell hasn't looked good on that line for a little while now.

I don't know but they've struggled against the Sabres this year, every game has been close. I'm pretty sure it wasn't more than twice anyway.

Gorton must be sitting up in the press box these last few weeks with his head in his hands saying “why on earth did we keep Kreider?”
It's not saying much, but that might have benn Howden's best game of the season.
He's been human. Can't blame him. Carrying this offense of neutered young forwards. he's exhausted and now frustrated realizing no playoffs again.

You just can't survive on fancy east-west passing plays. There must be some net crashing and shooting for rebound chances, there's gotta be some funneling towards the goalmouth. This shit is as fundamental and basic as time itself. I swear, watch how the good teams like the Bruins and Isles play. There's always a purpose there, every play they make has a purpose to funnel the direction of the puck toward the net on offense. We go lateral instead
