I said earlier that today's second period was about as bad as I had ever seen the Bruins play at home.

The worst was in 1973 when the Islanders were just starting and they came into Boston after losing 12 in a row and the Bruins must have partied hard the night before. It was 5-0 Islanders after 1.

But at least in that game the Bruins woke up for the final 2 periods.

I am bitterly disappointed in today's game because I thought they had turned a corner.

Thanks for that video.

Gave me the chance to surf to know who was wearing what number on the Islanders.

The curse of Bill Mikkelson :

He played for two expansion teams (Islanders 72-73 and Caps 74-75).

These teams went 20-127-11, and he personnally went -136 in 131 games.

At least he had his moment in the sun.

We got home from the game around 5 pm and had power skating for my youngest sons team (I'm head coach). I wanted to skip as it was a long day and I skated last night. My son told me he was tired and hockey'd out. I should have made him go, but I got what he was saying and I went to practice myself. I didn't want to be there, but was glad I went. It was fun watching some kids that wanted to play. The bruins sure didn't (well most of them).

Chris

Cheers to you for being a coach of hockey and giving your time and passion to students of the game! I was really disappointed they didn't give you a single moment to stand up and cheer with him and I think days/games like this show a lot of people what the entertainment value is for a Bruins game.

DKH said it best, St.Louis, Nashville and Phily. Three games this year the price of admission was perhaps worth it. Perhaps.

Out here, the Canucks fans see the exact same transition (many radio personalities who call in for segments like Maguire, Dreger, Ferraro, Mackenzie etc. each week compare the Bruins and Canucks as being in the same boat but one team is in denial) taking place and fans have been giving their tickets away and interest in a Canadian city is at an all-time low.

My guess is Linden lasts longer than Neely and tickets drop in Vancouver before Boston. Icing will be if Vancouver gets back into the playoffs with a young group led by Horvat and company before the Bruins do led by Chara and company.

A little surprised that there were no reaction quotes from management and no rumors of trades floating around after that display.

I think they're going to be looking to stand pat when in reality they should be selling off their veterans. Going to be a long season.

Best home crowd this season was against Winnipeg 2 months ago.

What has been damning is all 11 home losses have been in regulation which denies the paying customers a 3-3/shootout outcome.

If you own a sports franchise all you want at the end of an opening are the fans saying 'that was fun' regardless of the score. The Bruins have failed badly the past 2 years on that.

There was a madness to my poll selections and your votes so far indicate the frustration we all have right now. Sweeney is not perceived to be our major problem right now and the heat is on Claude and Cam.

Claude gets a pass from me because of his pure genius decision to have the Bruins go to Lake Placid in 2011 after losing the first 2 games at home.

Penguins did ok with a coaching change. I just feel a different voice is needed. Players are way to complacent with this coach.

Too many tired disinterested vets on this team. Why haven't the bruins tried to call up any of the younger performing players in Providence? Heck call up Rinaldo. Look at the leafs young core, energized and entertaining to watch. Why?

Someone from the organization needs to step up and call out this team....enough is enough already.

with help from uber talents like Crosby/Malkin and Letang, this team has nowhere near that talent

I do believe a new voice is likely to be what`s needed, that said, I don`t believe that voice is one that would be able to squeeze more out of this group. If a change is made in season, it will be one who the Pres/GM think will be the guy moving forward with the kids coming

That was 6 years ago.

You know the old joke about Mr Right and Mr Right now? I think Clode was Mr Right in 2010-11, but he's not Mr Right Now.

Could not bring myself to post here yesterday following what was susposed to be an NHL game. Bad beyond bad. Defies logic as to how confounding it is that they continue to put up these stinker performances at home. Don't get it.

I seriously want to take my ticket stub and mail it to the Bruins and demand a refund.

i had season tix up until the seguin trade.
in 2008-2009 bruins were like 22-3 in the home games i went to. and they were pretty much all blowouts. probably had like a +60 goal differential in those games.
the good old days

I hear ya. I wouldnt mind paying money to watch Crosby/Seguin/Malkin/Ovechkin/McDavid/Eichel play every night - instead I am paying to watch Bergeron win faceoffs.

Then don't pay. Some of you guys don't realize how lucky you are to watch the Bruins, even when they stink, live.

I've seen 4 NHL games, zero Bruins games. I would have loved to still be at yesterdays game, despite them ******** the bed.

Not a bad idea at all. Felt terrible for the poster who was so excited to relay that he was taking his 10 year old son to his first ever game. What a disappointment for them. Couple that with the added insult to injury with the stinging feeling you bring up. Rotten experience.

I'm just waiting for Harry to grab his walker and bash in the Bruins dressing room door between periods one game and scream at the players saying he's made as hell and isn't gonna put up with this type of effort any more.
(I miss Harry's passion.)
Somebody's got to lite a fire under these guys, time is running out on the season.

The team just isn't that good. It lacks depth on both offense and defense, and its top players look burnt out.

Sure, change the coach. But nobody will be able to make chicken salad out of chicken **** with this squad.

Simple, it is a coach who has lost the room. A play to recoup some degree of influence, or the ears of enough players in the locker room to get them to rally themselves enough to execute to a game plan.

With the smurfs
Watched over half the game and the Bruins were playing a perfect D game, allowing only 3 shots to the Isles in the 1st and about ZERO scoring chance after 30 minutes.

My DVR failed me so I couldn't see the rest of the game but it seems the wheels fell off. Wasn't expecting a loss, even less a 4-0 loss, after how good they played after 30+minutes...

Too many points lost to bad teams. This will make for a very tough ending unless they go on a tear, which they have the talent to do.

And a big thumb up for Morrow in instead of K.Miller. Addition by substraction. Now if C.Miller could get healthy so Liles can go in the press box again...

That should be the top-6 until McAvoy comes in:

Chara-Carlo
Krug-C.Miller
Morrow-McQuaid
