Sorry, but you can't suspend Brown for that. He's bracing for the hit (that should be coming, I'll get back to this in a sec) partly to protect himself and partly to make Pominville not enjoy it.

IMO the key is this - Pominville SHOULD be going for the hit on Brown, NOT the puck. Brown knows this and braces for the hit that SHOULD be coming. Instead, Pominville tries to poke the puck through leaning forward into Brown. It was a stupid choice for Pominville because even if that elbow doesn't get him in the face, he is still going face first into a stationary Brown with no room to squeeze by the boards.

Maybe fine Brown because the elbow did hit the head, but no suspension.

I don't know what Brown could've done not to head his head there. I mean if he's skating straight upwards, that's a clean check. Even if he hadn't used the elbow, he still would've hit him in the head since he was so low. It's not malicious really. I mean I guess it could be suspension worthy, it's just kind of annoying since there's not much you can do to avoid it other than just backing off.

I don't know if he will get a suspension or not, but Brown looked like he was trying to throw a shoulder in response to an incoming check. He only hit him in the face because Pom came in so low. That's pretty tough to adjust for last-second like that. Not sure if the NHL considers that when reviewing, but it didn't seem intentional at all to me.

It was an elbow to the face but since when does the other player not have any responsibility for the position they put themselves in? If Pom has stayed upright and not bent way down. He is the same size as Brown yet his face is at or below shoulder level. And then we have who instigated the contact.

if you start doing that on nothing Hockey play's . The entire league is going to have lines missing. Cause everyone will be a repeat offender.

Refs should have called 2 for an elbow or 4 for an injury and called it a day.
