That was the best part of the game. next to the ice girls of course :naughty:

It was better than watching the team attempting to score goals against a goalie who had looked terrible in his previous two starts and against a bunch of other AHL players while the wild were also missing their best players.

Even the boys from Kiss were like...wow !

Haha Getzlaf line has almost doubled up Kopitars , folks Kopitar is not an elite center.

Apples to oranges in how the teams play, though. Unless you think Getzlaf would be putting up the exact same numbers here.

I'm gonna say again, it's not the personnel. We have players on this team that have scored 30, 35, and 40 goals.

If the Ducks continue their pace all year , they will end up in the top ten for team defense , I am not buying that system garbage anymore.

Kopitar is what he is , a. very good center.

The only person capable of 40 goals is Carter. Richards looks to be a shell without Carter.

Brown is a 20 goal guy .....

Line-by-line combined goal totals for the Kings.

Line 1 (King-Kopitar-Carter): 38 goals
Line 2 (Brown-Stoll-Williams): 27 goals
Line 3 (Frattin-Richards-Toffoli): 17 goals
Line 4 (Clifford-Lewis-Nolan): 8 goals

That's 90 combined goals from the Kings' top 12 forwards. They have an additional 2 goals scored from players outside of the top 12, one from Carcillo who has since been traded, and the other from Tanner Pearson.

You know what that number of combined goals by the 12 Kings' forwards averages out to over the 44 games the Kings have played? 2.04.

For comparison, let's look at how the Ducks forwards are doing. I'll go over their lines used most often throughout the season.

Line 1 (Penner-Getzlaf-Perry): 54 goals
Line 2 (Palmieri-Bonino-Selanne): 29 goals
Line 3 (Cogliano-Koivu-Silfverberg): 27 goals
Line 4 (Winnik-Perreault-Maroon): 13 goals
Extra Forwards (Etem, Beleskey, Smith-Pelly, Jackman, Holland [traded]): 12 goals

That's 123 goals for the Ducks' 12 regular forwards, or 135 goals with all of their forwards combined. That averages to 3 goals per game over 45 games for the Ducks.

Just goes to show us once again Sutter is right, it's a 3-2 league.

I don't remember Kopitar getting to the middle of the ice in the offensive zone once tonight, does anyone else?

I thought King had a good game, Carter not so much.

Getzlaf has 49 points ......

Getzlaf plays in a more wide open system and plays with a former league MVP.

Put Kopitar and Carter in that system and they would be putting up the numbers to.

Kopitar has been his usual excellent self. Want to criticize people, how about the guy you said a few weeks back that Babcock would love to have for Team Canada. Or Dustin Brown. Brown has been bad all year and Richards has been arguably the worst player on the team the past month. Stoll has been better than both these guys. We can also criticize Toffoli who has been invisible and ofcourse the usual dead weight Clifford, Lewis and Fraser.

Kopi is one of the best forwards in the league, period.

You didn't respond to anything I just said :dunno:

The Ducks are playing good defense yes but it's helped along by their offense due to a different system. You can pretend systems don't exist, but you'd be the only one. (edit: unless you're saying you can put up offensive numbers while still playing defense in which case I agree, example Chicago. But that isn't the system we are playing, right?)

I agree about Carter, but let's not forget Brown and Kopi have put up 30+ goals on this very club. They may be the outlier seasons, but it has happened and I dont think their abilities have vaporized.

Kopitar is a terrific all around center, I don't know why the need to slag him when the team is slumping by comparing him to a player having a career year.

Kopitar is fine , going to get his 70 points . he is a very good center.

I thought Stoll's line was the only one that got the puck to the net tonight. With Stoll and Brown on that line that has to be their game plan. There were some loose pucks around the net and some good scrambles when they were out there. They were close several times to jamming one in, and if they keep playing like that it will be ok.

King was the only one doing work on the Kopitar line tonight.

Getzlaf has been a PPG player his entire career. This year may not even be a career year fot him.

About the system, Kings coaches are not telling these guys to avoid center ice...the same players attacked it In the cup run.....

The system argument is an excuse to let players off the hook..

Same goes for the power play.

You're still deliberately evading...

Edit to catch your edit: oh definitely. They're allergic to it and it drives me batty. They favor possession over rush chances and it seems they'll only try a cross-crease pass if it's guaranteed. When I saw Williams receive that from Stoll tonight I was in shock.

Anyway, if we're going to play this system, guys have to crash, bar none and they aren't doing that.

Spot on once again Kings17

Also, yuck.

Since Martinez & Toffoli scored against San Jose, goals have come from 77, 74, 77, 14, 14, 28, 11, 77, 77, 11, 23, 77, 77, 28.

He's on pace for 65 actually and he's shooting fairly below his career average in the last two seasons. That said outside of the first 10 games or so I am content with Kopitar's game.

Exactly , I accepted Kopitar for what he is. A very ,very good center.

I'm fine with how the top line is performing, despite being outscored by a wide margin by the Ducks' top line. I find it problematic that the division leading team's third line has produced as many goals as the Kings' second line and that they are getting more production from their bottom six than the Kings are from their all of their forwards not named Kopitar, Carter or King.

The power play ......its losing the Kings games.

This is now two coaches .…....I am going to start blaming the players now.

Kompon has Chicago's pp top five. I know that's not his wisdom doing that.

Players.....Kopitar , get off the halfwall please and attack the net. Draw a defender to you , or use that nice shot you have.

Doughty has actually been better on the point, but he needs to use his wrist shot more
