Do does Cogliano finally miss his first NHL game because of a suspension for the head shot on Kempe? Missed on the ice, but Player safety?

Every Pacific team playing tonight got a point but the Kings, even ARZ did.

And you know what Burns did when he got the puck with the goalie pull, he shot it on net and didn't
pass up a shot, SJ tied it up then won it in OT.

LA’s spot is tenuous at best. They have let the Pacific catch up. I feel like they are waiting for Carter now. I don’t like the savior vibe being hefted on him. Gonna be a dogfight from here on out.

They lost to Calgary at home with Carter too. Got down 2-0 in the 1st, led by a Tkachuk goal. Couldn't hold a 3-2 lead in the 3rd because Tkachuk scored again to tie it. They've been bad at home against Pacific teams all year, no matter who is in the lineup. They've allowed Pac team to take 11 of 12 points in LA.

They're 3-5-3 at home against the West, for 9 out of 22 points. The western opponent is 8-1-2, for 18 of 22 points. That's why anything is tenuous.

Home against the East: 8-2-0, 31 GF, 20 GA
Road against the East: 7-3-1, 30 GF, 26 GA
Road against the West: 6-4-1, 31 GF, 24 GA
Home against the West: 3-5-3, 24 GF, 29 GA

Not sure what happens to the team in the last category.

Without Carter:

Home East: 4-2-0
Road East: 7-3-1
Road West: 5-4-1
Home West: 3-5-2

Again, they're ok until the last category. If they were bad on the road against the West, well without Carter, and an inexperienced defense, they don't get the matchups. They're passable on the road though. Their only win in 6 division home games came in a SO against a very injured Ducks team.

Kyle Clifford vs Kelly Buchberger Kings era version, who wins? I'd like to see Clifford never fight again, I've never seen a hockey player get helicoptered at the end of every fight.

Mitchell wasn’t expected to produce points, and was on an expansion team and at the time you are pointing out was a 24-year old, who quickly moved up and became high in demand because of his defensive instincts.

Forbort doesn’t have those instincts, nor is he quick to read plays. He doesn’t have a natural instinct to react quickly.

If somebody was to ask what is the best play Forbort has made all season it would be a struggle to come up with one. He's a bowl of vanilla ice cream.

The decline in play started when Clifford came back into the lineup after the Kings had won 8 straight with him out. He and AA are useless players. They wouldn’t be in the lineup on any other team, ( see Dwight King )

I’m starting to question Stevens and his decision to constantly have them in the lineup.

I hope not, I can't believe the veterans on this team would do that, as weak as the leadership is. That defies logic. I love Carter and they definitely miss the threat of Carter. Even tho he was off to a slow start, every time he crosses the blue line , he's a threat. That is something other teams have to prepare for , so it does affect the matchups. But this is a serious injury and until he is able to skate on that leg, nobody will know how , if at all, if affects his stride. Also, by that time (last estimate I read was end of Feb) he have been off for 4 months, that is akin to training camp after a summer off. The 3 weeks or so of pre season/camp is for most players to get their legs/timing and stuff back. So when he does come back, it might take a couple weeks until he's up to par.

THis team has enough talent to produce goals to win , if they play a full effort. JC being off the team, isn't preventing that. Far too often , this year, like the last couple, and like last night, the Kings wait until about 10 min left in the 3rd to 'wake up'. They play lazy and a bit uninspired thru the first 2 periods. You can't do that in today's NHL. If they came to play and pushed hard in the first, getting a lead and kept it up, they'd have a say a 3-1 lead going into the third, instead of skating uphill. That's a mistake that teams inexperienced teams make.

I didn't have them a playoff team in Sept and I still don't. NOthing I've seen speaks to that. They are a good team who got off to a hot start in a cold division. THey have added some terrific young blood in Iafallo and KEmpe who are shaping up to be good top 6'ers. And Next year, if Vilardi and Amadio make the team, that's another step forward. But you can't erase 3 yrs worth of DL errors with a single brushstroke. Luc and blake knew the score when they took over. And they are trying to right the ship, but it takes time.

Trading for a top 4 D, as much as they like to, would cost too much. To get that elusive player, you'd have to give up a top 6 forward, to being with, and that creates another hole. I've read they have been trying to upgrade the d, but won't pay the price, too steep.

I'm nervous every time I see Andreoff or Clifford drop the gloves; just let MacDermid be the scrapper until he ages and becomes the punching bag. They need to just focus on playing hockey rather than who they have to fight to stay in the line-up. Go throw some body checks or somthin.

Would definitely prefer to see Jokinen in the lineup going forward. Clifford was worse than Andreoff last night though, so many puck bobbles on clean passes. Like the one where he was inexplicably at the point recieving a pass from Drew in the 3rd.

Jokinen and Brodz need to be out there most nights.

Our chickens are starting to come home to roost. The writing has been on the wall all season; we're bad at possession and give up too many chances. The goaltending has been propping us up all season long, but now that we're seeing just a little dip, it's costing us games.

This team will make playoffs, but without a defensive retool it isn't a contender by any means. We simply are not that good defensively.

Last night's game was the complete opposite. Anaheim got 3 gifts from Quick. In fact that may have been Quick's worst game ever, or at least top 5. The defense was not a problem at all, Anaheim had very few legit chances all night.

The Kings have their work cut out for them. Calgary, San Jose, and Anaheim are right on their tail. If those teams pass them, it becomes a dogfight with Minnesota, Chicago, and Dallas for the last wild card spot.

Wondering what spin Blake and Robitaille would put on the situation if it comes to pass.

Funny that you lay the blame on the current management group and absolve the previous regime who is largely responsible for this mess.

People didn't want Sutter hockey anymore.

Been waiting to pull that one back out eh?

24-14-5 on the year. 19-14-4 without Carter. Take out the 1-3-1 Pacific home game record without Carter, and it's 18-11-3. That's 100 points over 82 games. The 1-3-2 total home record against the division is a 55 point record.

It is an issue that they can't beat division teams at home, and it's probably going to keep them out of the playoffs unless they figure it out, but that's basically the only place they're having too tough of a time. Even without Carter. Even with two spinning corporate yes men in the front office who are just trying to get people's money.

I was highly critical of what Dean Lombardi did over his last couple of seasons in LA. Maybe you two should pay more attention.

My issue with Kings management, especially Robitaille, is the BS sales job regarding this roster being a Stanley Cup contender. I will amend my comment though regarding Blake. Thus far he hasn't made any moves to hurt the future to support Robitaille's illusion. I hope he continues on this path.

Carter's injury is very unfortunate, but with our without him, I think the team is still relatively in the same position. If the Kings don't make the playoffs or have little success in the playoffs, they should consider moving Carter in the off season. He is one of the few assets they have which can be moved for a good return.

Not being able to beat teams in their own division is their only problem? Well, I'm glad that's all it is, since those are the teams they play the most games against, and is easily solved. Meanwhile the Ducks, who were without their top two centers for a large portion of the early season, are breathing down the Kings necks.
