I'm not Joe that thinks that passing should be outlawed. I don't mind making passes to set up better chances than you have when you can shoot but it wasn't like we looked better than those 4 shots on net and just overpassed or missed the net, we looked as bad if not worse. We had no zone time all period.
It doesn't have to be shots specifically. The point being, teams look like they don't care when they're being destroyed and/or doing no offense.

He pushes it plenty. See practically every interview, practically every game what Sam and Joe's talking points are. The players are passive up and down the roster and nearly to a man will not change. It's the new NHL so tearing the paint from the walls with your voice isn't really a thing but with this group it probably should be.
Actually if you listen to his interviews he doesn't say that. He says they need "better intentions" almost without fail every single time. What that means is up for interpretation, but I think people on here assume it means they need to be tougher or more engaged. But it is so ambiguous, it is anyone's guess.

AND if he is indeed pushing the message to be more engaged, then he should be stapling players who are not following his directions to the bench (and don't limit the accountability to just the young guys when you do that).

When he shot 20%? yes. That doesn't mean he was a good play driver.

I mean he also managed 78 assists over 139 games the past two years (97 in 180 including this season). He’s not an elite playmaker but he’s pretty much a dual threat. It’s not like he didn’t score 30 the year before and he’s still on pace for about 30 this year despite an abysmal start.

He still looks like a 30-35 goal, 45 assist player who kills penalties and competes. He may not be the elite 50 goal 100 point guy who flashed last year but he’s a 75-80 point center.
