Darn. Had I thought ahead, I'd have skipped the round pies on Sunday night and made a couple o' these tonight...

Gustafson has looked terrible for a long time. He had some good games early in the season but has been pretty pathetic since. None of Stenlunds games have looked anywhere near as bad as Gus. Here’s hoping he plays better starting tonight.
Disagree. Gustafsson is one of the best forwards the Jets have in the defensive zone and on the penalty kill. Stenlund is a trainwreck in the defensive zone, especially the past few games.

Are you honestly saying you didn’t notice a significant drop off in Gus’s performance shortly before he was benched? He had a couple of games where literally every attempt to touch the puck was a fail. During that time Stenlund was playing important minutes, winning face offs, scoring goals (something Gus has yet to do this season). Stenlund was on the PK during our long stretch of 100% kills. He’s a 4th liner so we can only expect so much.

stenlund has been quite a bit better than gus imo. gus is typical prospect overhype. people on this forum complain about the vet signings or w/e of the last few years yet gus is worse than the likes of toninato, or thompson. it's 4c so at the end of the day it's not super consequential and one of the least of this team's worries atm.

He had been struggling a bit for sure, but I can't remember seeing him play a game where he was as noticeably bad as Stenlund has been the past few. Looked like he was trying to give the game away against Tampa.

Agree that an Ehlers/55 swap might be in the cards at some point, but that first line is grooving and hopefully 91 and 26 have rubbed a bit of rust off and made a pinky swear to shoot the puck once in a while.

Hah it’s actually ridiculous how much they over pass.

Do they know you could just skate into the zone and shoot the puck in the net? It’s allowed! You don’t have to every player touch the puck first.

Yup and we already know that Dubie and Connor can produce no matter who is on their line. Ehlers could be a great spark for 55 and 26, and Perf could benefit from 80 and 81's chemistry
I agree, but I’m thinking Bones wants Wheeler to shadow Cole. Kinda like on the job training.

I mentioned to a classmate this afternoon that if the Jets win, Bowness gets to travel to the All-Star Game and coach the western conference.

His reply was something along the lines of, What if he'd rather have the week off? In his occupation, going to Florida in January is no big deal and perhaps he'd just like to speed a few days at home, streaming some good video and ignoring hockey. I hadn't thought of it that way. I doubt that the appeal of a week's rest would motivate any coach to sabotage his team, but at least if we lose tonight and Dallas wins, Bowness will get a much deserved rest.

A couple of games of 91-55-27 would be just fine.
Maybe even if we can build a lead and then switch for the 3rd period.
I'm fine watching 81-80-27 torch people.
I think 81-55-27 can also light it up.

Pre-injury 91-55-26 was so good that you could totally afford to keep them as a line and hopefully they can get back to that in the near future.
