I actually don't mind McDavid playing around during the season. It burns us but it supports his creative process. For instance that spinorama move is deadly but the only way to find its limits is to play with it

I get what you’re saying. Builds confidence. And he usually never does it in a way that hurts us. Skilled players like him need to be given leeway for some mistakes, in fact most coaches do exactly that. Ever look at the list of top giveaways in the League? It’s littered with the games most skilled players.

Nuge is pacing for the same point drop as McDavid. Pp has been rough this year for the most part, and it’s not just Nuge.
11 goals is 11 goals. Thats pathetic playing with the best player in hockey, and Hyman, and playing on the top unit PP in the world. (for personnel on it)

Nuge needs to cash. The spots the team puts him in guy should score 30 in his sleep.

It would be interesting to see what the breakaway % is vs shootout %.

Different situations. On shootouts goalies know what’s coming they can be very aggressive. Broken plays resulting in breakaways are a different kettle of fish.

Statistically in game breakaways are lower chances to score than in the shootout, but it's pretty well within a margin of error.

Worth noting though that you could generally be right; shoot out has a rather heavy selection bias in that a breakaway could be any of 18 skaters, but generally the shootout is the most talented 3.

The best player in hockey only has 16 goals.

I’ll be the First to call out a bad goal when I see one. These goals ain’t it. Bad goals are easy to see you don’t need to squint and reach for all these spurious reasons. Heck you don’t even need to see them, the broadcasters will call them out for you or Skinner himself will call it out. They’ll say stuff like “skinner would have liked that one back”. Yeeeeeeeesh.
"That's a bad goal on Koskinen..." - After the puck hit 5 different people in front on the way to the net

Doesn’t match the eye test. He hasn’t been getting set up for that much. Despite who his line mates are.
