Why are we putting all of the blame for failing to clear the zone on the defense? I get that our D are getting worked, but it's not entirely their fault.

More often than not, it's the forwards who:

1) don't support the D: they fly the zone while the D with the puck has two guys on him
2) make soft ass passes/turnovers in dangerous areas like in our own slot or at our own blue line

There were numerous examples of both cases last night that were responsible for shift after shift of Panther pressure in our own end.

Stop panicking. They are just sticking to the 94 script. Need to get blown out in game 5 at home and then have Trouba guarantee a win and score a hat trick in Game 6.

Full disclosure, Mika did not play well yesterday and he’s been bad this series

But I find it laughable that an athlete that has reached the pinnacle of their industry is being told by a bunch of people sitting behind a computer that he “doesn’t want it enough” lol

And he’s also tied for second on the team in points. He’s been bad this series but good the rest of the way scoring wise.

If they could play like they did in the first period, they'd be moving on.

But it's just so easy for Florida. They've figured out that if you just put the puck behind our D, they can't do anything.

The entire league knows this since the '22 playoffs.

- Teams started actively targeting and hammering Fox and Lindy from the very beginning of the 22-23 season and now they are wrecks. (Eg Calgary at home that season.)
- Trouba has declined at a steady clip even since then. He may be too big to be bullied physically but teams know they can skate circles around him.
- Bringing in Gus was at least a start.
- Jones should have gotten more looks during the regular season and integrated but... you know, NYR coaches are not exactly mentally nimble either.

Puck management was an issue up and down the lineup last night, sure, but it's very obvious that defense is where we have multiple guys playing way above their stations.

It's obviously the thing you would change if you want to improve in the offseason.

This team had a horrific game 5 against the Canes and we thought they were dead in the water.

Im not giving up on them now, mainly because of 2 guys, Igor and Laf.

But this is concerning. Very concerning. They were completely outplayed for 42 minutes.

With the ages of some of the veterans and the pieces they have, however flawed - given the season they've had - I just dont think theyll be a better opportunity to win it all in the coming years. They are close. They really need to seize the moment and have a good 60 min effort at home to right the ship. It wont be easy, but im hoping things just click. They havent looked like themselves for more than a period at a time.

My gosh some of these replies this morning. Some of you need a life. This series isn't over, not by a long stretch but jeez do Mika, Artie, and Kreider need to be better. Mika has been the worst of the three and it's not even close. Win a home game tomorrow, no big deal.

the coaching staff is failing..

Cuylle Wennberg Kakko were buzzing and holding o-zone possession... lets break it up so we can accommodate the wonder twins so we can just stay in our zone the entire 3rd period

Zibs is the 4th best Center on this team
Kakko being scratched then going to our "first" line to play with the 2 most underperforming players on the team was an absolutely wild move. What did they think would happen there?

That's just what sports fandom is. We are paying him millions to play a game for a living. He needs to deliver.

Yeah, I haven't really gotten on Lavi, but putting Kakko up there was kind of crazy.

That line has only done anything with Roslovic. Leave Roslovic there.

The combination of forwards we have aren't the reason we don't have the puck.

Listen guys, harden the f*** up, dont be like this little kid.

We got a good shot at winning here and hopefully the next video of a crying fan is wearing a panthers jersey.

He's been below-average to awful since Game 1 against Carolina.

That line is not hard to figure out. Zibanejad and Kreider are fire in the offensive zone once they get there but they have trouble transporting the puck.

Kakko couldn't transport the puck if he used FedEx.

This is another area where having more than one defenseman who could do it would help.

For me, it's more anger towards our 'big stars', with Mika being the ring leader twirling his baton

Mika did kinda suck in the game but remember he also had a shot where it hit the top pipe of the goal and went straight down and hit a couple inches in front of going in and bounced around. Could have easily gone in, we coulda won the game with that. Just an unlucky bounce away.

It's a good point. As in years past with this core, it's the bottom 6 that consistently generate forecheck cycles. Putting Kakko with Kreider and Zibanejad is something that has never truly clicked, and it cost them a decent forechecking third line. Though it still doesn't generate a whole lot, it at least tilts the ice back a little and gives the top two lines a chance at ozone starts.

At this point I'm not sure what can be done and configured to separate 93 and 20. Do you swap Wennberg and Mika? Slide Chytil in to center Kreider, drop Wennberg to 4C, and Mika to 3C?
Just do 20-93-96!!

They had a million points together and we broke them up for literally no reason.

They even had chances last night before we started juggling.

That egregious turnover didnt look like fine to me.

disagree completely. They are typically one and done when they get there.
