Did Brent Burns hurt him before the Tampa and Devils series?
This isn't injury. This is Mika Zibanejad.
Did Brent Burns hurt him before the Tampa and Devils series?
Agree. Laf is a star and he's worked his ASS off to get to where he is at. This was not handed to him. No matter what happens from here on out, Laf better get top line treatment across the board. He's not starting next season without a spot on the top PP unit. The good news: Laf is a star. He is an 82+16 star. Not the fake 82 game star that disappears like some people. He can score against their top lines, even on a line with Panarin not participating. He is the line driver. That's very important moving forward. We can score at 5v5. We are doing that well.
The bad news: Their PP is playing well and they are getting double the chances. We also can't get one single penalty at the end of the 3rd when: Mika is pulled down stopping a 2v1, Kakko is tripped stopping a 1v1, and Trouba is punched in the face. Not one. Then they get their legitimate penalty in overtime which is fine because it was a legitimate penalty, like at least 2 of the 3 things we didn't get in the last minute of the 3rd were.
Yes, nothing could ever change in the playoffs right? Playing better at home? More favorable officiating? Coach making some adjustments? Last change? This team has won all year when it mattered. It's very possible they can come through again.
What does a cross check have to do with Mika turning the puck over to the blue line and handing them the game in OT?
I think this is fair. These aren’t conversations that we necessarily need to be having yet in a 2-2 series. I don’t see us defeated yet the way I felt we were after game 3 against Tampa.
But the puck moving on the back end is just one of two major roster structural problems. The other is lack of pace at forward. NYR could really use a player of two to really stretch the ice surface.
But the team is 2-2 against a very formidable opponent. They’ve the edge in play, we’ve by far the better goaltender. Not quite following the cynicism.
Concern? Yes. But you’d be assholes to give up right now
Every time I see crap like this, the league looks rigged. Mika taken down by Forsling right before the end of the third period and no call...literally just yanked him down and prevented him from going for the puck. And then Kakko tripped by Florida player...he didn't fall down like McDonagh said on air. You can see Ekblad's stick touch Kakko's left skate. If Laviolette had any backbone, he'd complain to the league.
I just want to see him hit someone. Ah, who am I kidding.Kreider talked in his post game about being quicker. Bro, do it. He has these moments of dominating games, but they're only moments.
I want to see him go Game 6 2017 vs. Ottawa plus Game 5 2024 vs. Carolina crazy next game.
Don't be so down yet. After period 2 of game 6 against the Canes most of this board wrote the team off. Here we are going to game 5 of the ECF tied at 2 games. Like you said before Hockey is stupid. It's true. Weird sport. Theyre 6 wins away from a Stanley cup and it makes no difference how they get there. This team has some magic, which they've shown over and over. Just when it looks like theyre out of it, they find what they need to win. Not saying it's a guarantee but don't be so quick to fast forward to the summer. Stay in it.I still have faith that there's a winner in this locker room.
They have a ton of heart and they've answered a lot of questions. Trocheck has emerged as a legit 1C. Lafreniere is going to make it. I really don't think Panarin has had a bad tournament. Even if you have qualms with Kreider and Zibanejad, they're relatively cost-effective for their roles and we'll be relying on them less. Trocheck is already our undisputed 1C. He plays more than Zibanejad. I think maybe we need another winger, but the forward group can win.
I guess we'll let them play out the series and save this discussion for the summer, but they have multiple non-top-4 D playing top-4 roles. We knew they would have to win in spite of that, and the problem is fixable.
i think you consider dressing 7D and 11F.You really need to consider Zac Jones for game 5. The D corp is getting their dicks kicked in every shift. I dont know who you scratch though. Gus has been battling hard.
In my 40 + years of fandom I only recall us getting that bone once in my lifetime. You know what would be nice? You know what we could use? A Florida no-show like their Game 1 against Boston.
Might we be that fortunate?
I'm in it, I just don't know if the personnel exists right now to turn this around.Don't be so down yet. After period 2 of game 6 against the Canes most of this board wrote the team off. Game 3 1994 NYR v Van Game 3 5-1 NYR
Yep then we chokedGame 6 in Tampa back in 2015 too.
I think this is fair.
Maybe they come out in Game 5 and surprise me.
They surprised me with how well they handled the Carolina series.
I still have faith that there's a winner in this locker room.

Man, I slept like shit.
And this morning, my partner is like, "Are you alright? Are you still pissy about the game?"
f*** him. He doesn't get it.![]()
I wouldn't say they're not even close. If they replaced like, probably one of two guys (either or) with good players, they probably win the Cup this year.I know I called out Mika for his heart but overall I kind of agree with Boyle this is not an effort or not wanting it enough issue they're just not good enough. It's like a little kid playing basketball against his dad he'll try hard hard but all his shots will be blocked. This is not even close to a cup contender.
