The good news: Laf is a star. He is an 82+16 star. Not the fake 82 game star that disappears like some people. He can score against their top lines, even on a line with Panarin not participating. He is the line driver. That's very important moving forward. We can score at 5v5. We are doing that well.

The bad news: Their PP is playing well and they are getting double the chances. We also can't get one single penalty at the end of the 3rd when: Mika is pulled down stopping a 2v1, Kakko is tripped stopping a 1v1, and Trouba is punched in the face. Not one. Then they get their legitimate penalty in overtime which is fine because it was a legitimate penalty, like at least 2 of the 3 things we didn't get in the last minute of the 3rd were.
Agree. Laf is a star and he's worked his ASS off to get to where he is at. This was not handed to him. No matter what happens from here on out, Laf better get top line treatment across the board. He's not starting next season without a spot on the top PP unit.

Yes, nothing could ever change in the playoffs right? Playing better at home? More favorable officiating? Coach making some adjustments? Last change? This team has won all year when it mattered. It's very possible they can come through again.

What adjustments can coaches make about the Rangers playing like little bitches and getting physically dominated.

These aren’t conversations that we necessarily need to be having yet in a 2-2 series. I don’t see us defeated yet the way I felt we were after game 3 against Tampa.

But the puck moving on the back end is just one of two major roster structural problems. The other is lack of pace at forward. NYR could really use a player of two to really stretch the ice surface.

But the team is 2-2 against a very formidable opponent. They’ve the edge in play, we’ve by far the better goaltender. Not quite following the cynicism.

Concern? Yes. But you’d be assholes to give up right now
I think this is fair.

Maybe they come out in Game 5 and surprise me.

They surprised me with how well they handled the Carolina series.

Every time I see crap like this, the league looks rigged. Mika taken down by Forsling right before the end of the third period and no call...literally just yanked him down and prevented him from going for the puck. And then Kakko tripped by Florida player...he didn't fall down like McDonagh said on air. You can see Ekblad's stick touch Kakko's left skate. If Laviolette had any backbone, he'd complain to the league.

Two penalties in the span of 2 seconds 💩 Mind blowing

I still have faith that there's a winner in this locker room.

They have a ton of heart and they've answered a lot of questions. Trocheck has emerged as a legit 1C. Lafreniere is going to make it. I really don't think Panarin has had a bad tournament. Even if you have qualms with Kreider and Zibanejad, they're relatively cost-effective for their roles and we'll be relying on them less. Trocheck is already our undisputed 1C. He plays more than Zibanejad. I think maybe we need another winger, but the forward group can win.

I guess we'll let them play out the series and save this discussion for the summer, but they have multiple non-top-4 D playing top-4 roles. We knew they would have to win in spite of that, and the problem is fixable.

Kreider talked in his post game about being quicker. Bro, do it. He has these moments of dominating games, but they're only moments.

I want to see him go Game 6 2017 vs. Ottawa plus Game 5 2024 vs. Carolina crazy next game.
I just want to see him hit someone. Ah, who am I kidding.

Don't be so down yet. After period 2 of game 6 against the Canes most of this board wrote the team off. Here we are going to game 5 of the ECF tied at 2 games. Like you said before Hockey is stupid. It's true. Weird sport. Theyre 6 wins away from a Stanley cup and it makes no difference how they get there. This team has some magic, which they've shown over and over. Just when it looks like theyre out of it, they find what they need to win. Not saying it's a guarantee but don't be so quick to fast forward to the summer. Stay in it.

You really need to consider Zac Jones for game 5. The D corp is getting their dicks kicked in every shift. I dont know who you scratch though. Gus has been battling hard.
i think you consider dressing 7D and 11F.

Laf is playing the best hockey of his career. We’re going to live or die with production from guys like Panarin and CK. Find them all extra shifts.

Find times to lessen the 5 on 5 ice for Fox/Trouba.

The ship has sailed on KK. He provides nothing. Sit him for Jones and decide between Fil/Wheeler as the 11th forward tomorrow.

You know what would be nice? You know what we could use? A Florida no-show like their Game 1 against Boston.

Might we be that fortunate?
In my 40 + years of fandom I only recall us getting that bone once in my lifetime.
Game 3 1994 NYR v Van Game 3 5-1 NYR

I'm in it, I just don't know if the personnel exists right now to turn this around.

And I would hate for them to go out in six and people spend the whole summer crucifying everyone.

Barkov has 4 points in his last 2 games...after two no-shows at the Garden and two no-shows against Boston.

Tkachuk has done f***ing NOTHING in this series despite his team being on a 120 minute powerplay the last two games.

Jason Robertson just had a hat-trick after not scoring in 11 games.

Your top forwards aren't great all the time. We're in round 3 because they were all PPG+ in the first two rounds. They've given us more than enough chance.

We have to get the puck out of our own zone.

The personnel is what it is, but can Lavi cook up some adjustments to at least stop the bleeding? It's possible.

We lost, so he'll do something. Sometimes he's not as hard as he needs to be after ugly wins, which I kind of get.

My only hope is the home ice will do something. After the Rangers started collapsing the last two years game 5 and game 6 at home were easily their best games. They actually looked competitive against Tampa at home.

I'm at a loss for words with how much I despise Mika's game right now...

..... even worse... The coaching staff keeps putting him out there like he's the one playing like Barkov

He's not even embarrassed and he thinks he's playing well...

How about we put our best players on the ice to start OT? how about we make sure Tro and Laffy get the most ice time? you know because they are unequivocally our best forwards???? nope... More Kreider-Zibs

the coaching staff is failing..

Cuylle Wennberg Kakko were buzzing and holding o-zone possession... lets break it up so we can accommodate the wonder twins so we can just stay in our zone the entire 3rd period

Zibs is the 4th best Center on this team

I know I called out Mika for his heart but overall I kind of agree with Boyle this is not an effort or not wanting it enough issue they're just not good enough. It's like a little kid playing basketball against his dad he'll try hard hard but all his shots will be blocked. This is not even close to a cup contender.

Man, I slept like shit.

And this morning, my partner is like, "Are you alright? Are you still pissy about the game?"

f*** him. He doesn't get it.

My wife told me that I can't let games ruin my mood. "I understand for 5 minutes".

I wouldn't say they're not even close. If they replaced like, probably one of two guys (either or) with good players, they probably win the Cup this year.
