So much affirming management's offseason strategy in this win....

Keep both Swayman and Ullmark. Maintain the best goaltending in the league and you have a chance to win every single game. Lesser goaltending and we are 2-2 or 1-3. Edmonton is a perfect example of the critical importance of goaltending - if they had Swayman and Ullmark they would be unbeatable.

Keep and play Forbort. He has been strong to start the season, especially last night. Worth every penny of his contract and cap hit. Makes all the sense in the world to keep together as much of a defense from a record breaking team as possible. The players and coaches know Forbort plays and important and unsung role.

Get bigger and stronger up front. We are finally seeing that strategy put into action and it is paying off. These big middle/bottom of the lineup players, like JVR, Lucic, Frederic, Geekie and Beecher are winning all sorts of puck battles on the boards and wearing down opponents. I actually really like Geekie's game. He looks like a poor man's Jason Allison, a guy who just glides through checks and into tough areas and has soft hands.

Decision to keep Poitras also paying off. He has been critical to at least two wins. Played better than his stats show. Just keep him away from Marchand and with some big bodies on the wing that play North/South.
We are very fortunate to have two excellent goalies and with Bussey in the wings, we are in an enviable position for the future. So many teams have struggled for years due to their lack of consistent goaltending.

Some teams win games with offense others win with defense. Some win with both. There are many ways to skin a cat as they say.

It was pretty much unanimous in the pre-season that the Bruins success would be dependent of great goaltending and defense.

Why is anyone surprised now?

Just as legit of a way to win games as any
which is why it was so weird everyone thought we would suck this year.

Benched for being late to a meeting. Curious to know how many times this happened that they sat him for a game.

It's got to be more than that. I hate to speculate but I bet there may be some sulking about lack of pp time and things of that nature. He knows he is in a contract year and he (or his agent) has always been clear he wants to get paid like an elite forward.

I sort of wonder if his contract negotiations play into this and management was getting a look at how the team plays without him. If he does not re-sign I do expect a trade, can't lose an asset like that outright.

Lucic might have a bone bruise and may not be able to play.

#74 goes back in, keep 63-18-88 together for the year. They are capable of carrying the offense.

The G and team D insure they are still a bubble team but not better until they can get a #1C. Lindholm looks like the only #1C available and he isn't in the class of the top 20% from last year but is still a legit 1C. Sweeney may be forced to move #74 for him if he wants to get a top 3 divisional slot.
That puck off the skate did seem to hurt him. Good time to give the big guy a rest.

DeBrusk is a question mark. I'd guess that contract talks aren't going well and maybe he's back to his unhappiness mood again idk. Might be the time to move him but unless it's a trade and sign he won't get you top value on an expiring contract. If you want another top forward I still think the value you trade is Gryz. Either that or it's Ullmark and you go with Swayman. Neither is ideal but there's no one else who isn't needed. You don't want to create a new hole when you fill one.

Apparently Freddy was featured in an article in the Daily Mail.

Gee, I wonder if Lucic taught him that right hook?

Looks like some new type of jersey grabbing technique? Wonder how Englund feels today? Freddy is in beast mode.

The Lucic Effect.

I think DeBrusk ultimately gets traded. Bruins have to be wondering about his commitment at this point? Do they want to re-sign him or use his dollars on someone else? Does Jake want to be here? Dude needs to play hard no matter the contract status. He's an upcoming free agent, other teams are watching. He can't be f***in around, it's going to cost him money.

All this because of being late to one meeting?
