Game #4: Kings vs. Oilers - 10/14/14 Kings Beat Oilers 6-1

A 6-1 win and we have people complaining about Kopi, Richards and McNabb as if the Oilers won. Unreal.

Pretty spot on. Throwing the kids out there night after night is killing their development.

Too late. They've already ruined almost all of them outside of Draisaitl and they are well on their way to destroying him. The Oilers have no clue when it comes to development, I've said it before and I'll say it again, they are hands down the worst team in the world when it comes to developing players and bringing them up through the system.

How does Eakins still have a job? I've seen peewee teams with more structure and better coaching than his Oilers teams. He should have been fired after his confrontation with RNH (or was it Hall?) last year with the thrown water bottle, where he got pissed about his hair.

What the hell were some of you ppl watching? Richards looked great out there beside Kopi and Williams. If they'd coverted half of the outnumbered rushes they'd generated, 3 point night for everybody and we're all up somebody else's ass. Just how it goes I guess, but I'm really surprised at the number of ppl nonplussed by their game. Zero problem with how the top line played tonight, and I hope they stick to that setup when they have to.

McNabb has a lot of good mixed in with the bad, this was a great game to see it all on display. Good for him to experience and us to see. Shades of Muzzin's emergence, like some others have said, and I accept it.

God damn. I mean, WOW!

With an assist to the Oiler defender's lack of gap control. Holy schmoly... stay with your man!

Hey guys,

Haven't logged in in awhile. I usually lurk the GDT's or PGT's. Did the number of LA Kings fans that post drop off considerably, or do they only pick up in popularity later on in the season (playoffs, etc.)? By the time we were on page 10 of our first thread last night, the Oilers, who have a terrible team and will most likely will have a season to forget, were moving on to their second.

I know they have a great legacy and rabid fanbase, but we just won 2 cups in the last 3 years! Where are all our fans? :(

Hey, don't look now, but Carter, Toffoli, and Pearson lead the NHL in +/- with a +8 each (actually, a +6 for Pearson). Still, nice.

Pearson (because he played 25 or less games last year) is Calder-eligible this season as he's technically a rookie. He'll be a lock for it if he keeps up anything close to this pace.

That second line has scored more goals this season than the Kings scored all of last December.

Oh God... don't remind me... December is coming. Rack up the points now boys!

If there is little to nothing to complain about, people don't post as much

I'm pretty sure Sutter is a wizard after seeing him speak post game. The man oozes wisdom...

It's not easy for the Oilers. Ever since the dynasty team was broken up because of money, it's just been rough trying to get players there. You can get a guy like Pronger for nothing only so many times. When they do get a player, it's usually from a high pick, and they want to get them in there. Then you've got their issues with later round picks.

What the league should do is allow 18 year olds in the AHL. I know why it doesn't happen. Start doing that, and all the best players from junior will be in the minors, and then junior hockey takes a hit.

They just have to bring in an actual GM kind of guy with a plan. Not just a former Oiler from the 80's.

Who leads all rookies in goals? Here is a hint: he also leads in points and +/ for rookies.

I know' small sample size but, nice to see

Wins are expected now, and they don't mean as much in October anymore. It's Cup or bust for the Kings with this current team, with 2 Cups in their back pocket already, and it's the 4th game of the season.

We've seen this team win on the road in the playoffs. We've seen them come back from down 0-3. We've seen them win 3 Game 7's on the road in one playoff tournament. We've seen them go up 3-0 four times in one playoff tournament.

You might get more posts for certain games, but the Kings have made it so that it's wake us up when it's April.

Not sure why people are complaining about the top line. Williams scored, Kopi had two fantastic scoring chances (as well as a primary assist), and I thought Richards had a great scoring chance as well (plus an assist). I thought they got better as the game went on.

McNabb is very up and down, but that's to be expected

Huh, I thought McNabb had a good game last night and has gotten better every game he's played.

Agreed. He's looked more comfortable than Muzzin did initially. He's still unsure if he should make a big hit or not, but that may come in time. He's also still learning where Drew is on the ice. It will be interesting to see if McNabb sits in the press box for long lengths of time when Muzzin gets back or if he will take some of Regehr's ice time.

come in after a loss in a week or two You will see a ton of chicken little posters in here. ( the sky is falling) or a 4 game losing streak. They only post when things are going bad.

At the game probably. I can also say that since I don't live in Edmonton or LA, the game wasn't available on TV so I really had nothing to add about the play. I've always found home games where we're winning big time to not draw long GDTs. Wait until we get into a tight game and somebody makes a bonehead play, then you'll get 6 pages of headslap gif posts, "[name] what was that?" posts, "Come on [name]...." posts, and "Blow it all up, these players have only taken us as far as they can, back to the top of the draft so we can rebuild our dynasty" posts which will soon be followed by the inevitable "Cammy and a pick" posts. For those of us who aren't able to watch the game, after 3 pages of that you can find out what happened and we will have what looks like "fan support" on our HFB page.

For now, I'm going to enjoy a GDT with the Toffoli gif over and over and a minimum of negative posts. That said....

Cammy and a pick. I don't know for what, but it couldn't hurt.

T2M

Oilers are just gunning for that number one overall again! Ever since McJesus was discovered they have been in the tank mode! They'll probably ruin him too!

Love it! "We don't play for the numbers, we play for the crown on the front of our shirt." :thumbu:

(Did a guy say "Yeaaahh, dude!"?)

"Classic!"

It's great when rookies who initially come in very stiff later get comfortable and crack jokes and show their personality. Pearson is entertaining. Who knew? ;). (I remember seeing the same process happen with Martinez and Muzzin.)

Nice job with the video, Gann. :yo: Now I've got to see the other videos.

Laughing at the TSN replay description "The Kings scored six unanswered goals which included a pair from Tanner Pearson, as the Oilers were unable to earn their first win of the season." It's like they don't know what an unanswered goal is, silly Canadians.

Good game against poor, very poor, oponent, Oilers just gave up after 3rd goal.

Last two games were just what Kings needed to get in shape.

@LAKingsPR: ICYMI: Trevor Lewis was placed on IR list last night retroactive to Oct. 8

Is somebody coming up?
Or is this just cap saving move?
