It's weird. I've been a little harsh on some posters here that I have judged as being overly critical of the team but when things get rolling like they are now is when I seem to get the most nervous. I think about paranoid stuff like peaking too early in the season and players burning out. Then you consider what Chicago has done for about year now and it gives me hope that we can continue at this level of play through June.

It's almost like I'm afraid to admit how excited about this team I am right now. Can anyone relate?

I think we have two things that counter that: Consistency and depth. We're not playing out of our minds right now, we're just playing a consistent type of hockey that can be replicated night in and night out. In the past when we've been on streaks, it felt like we were getting bounces and getting a little lucky. Right now we're creating our chances though consistent play. It's a nice change from the decades past. And that doesn't even account for our depth. We've been able to bring guys up who can not only fill in for injuries, but excel in their position. This is thanks to DL. Sure we may have some low points, but I don't think we'll see huge slumps or struggles like we have in the past. Knock on wood.

Yeah, this. In the past this kind of a roll was fueled by emotion, which is not sustainable. Now it feels like the club has found a nice cruising gear.

What's really impressive is how they're doing this with injuries to some significant players. (Quick, of course; Carter was gone for a bit; Greene, Mitchell.)

Park and ride.

I'm also VERY happy with this +32 goal differential.

Best in the Pacific, and only behind Chicago (+36), St. Louis (+38), and Pittsburgh (+37).

69 GA total is also fantastic. Great stuff. Keep it rolling!

I think you still have to get the bounces (i.e. Tommy Wingels channeling Trevor Lewis), but we outplay the opponent on more nights than not, and that's a great cruising gear.

Since Brown didn't get any games for his hit, all his rabid haters will get even angrier. To them I say Merry Christmas, you filthy animals!

Man Amart was so good yesterday when I was at the game.

All were really missing is a left winger for Richards. We'd be so solid and have a bit of better offense would mean the world.

This is pretty spot on. :thumbu: Even as little as a couple of seasons ago when the Kings would go on a win streak and people would say things like, "I'm not looking forward to when my team plays the Kings..." or anything to that effect, I didn't feel it was deserved. I knew the streak was just that, a streak. Now, for maybe the first time in my life as a Kings fan (even still reluctant to say it), I do feel it's deserved. I really don't have the same jitters anymore, like I did in the past.

I feel pretty confident each and every game. Except that hawks game. The team looked bad the whole game. But like you said, there will be low points. Even when players get injured. Instead of going "OH ****!" We now say, "Hey can't wait to see one of the rookies come up!" It's definitely a mental shift, but a deserved one.

Here's hoping the boys keep it rolling all the way to, and through the playoffs!
