I understand the reasoning behind trading Blackwood, but there's only one reason to play Georgiev - for failure.
So you don't want a shot at Schaefer?
I understand the reasoning behind trading Blackwood, but there's only one reason to play Georgiev - for failure.
I mean it’s what is best for the team. Do you want to be respectable or do you want a winner?"Hey guys. I know you liked Mackenzie, he was great In the lockeroom and he was making us respectable, but I've got a ten year plan and it involves many of you wasting a few years of your playing careers, cool?" Mike Grier
You don't think this was his plan? This is exactly his plan.
For me, the most insufferable part of this game was having to listen to those clowns. I don't have anything against the Avalanche unless I have the Avalanche feed on - in that case, I hope they never make the playoffs again.Avs feed is on this weird bender about Warren G Harding rather than talking about the game.
I'd rather Aaron Dell than Georgiev. There's simply only ONE reason he's on this team and playing and it ain't because they think he can be salvaged.
4-2 Avs cause Fourgiev
Avs: Makar, Rantanan x2, Wood
Sharks: Celebrini, Zetterlund

Remains to be seen. Seems like they were rotating Vanecek and Georgiev until Vanecek got hurt. I would hope to hell Asky gets a fair shot. I’m sure they played Georgiev today for the “revenge (lol)” factor and it backfiredI understand the reasoning behind trading Blackwood, but there's only one reason to play Georgiev - for failure.
We didYou guys have your tank commander, just need to make sure you score less than 5 goals a game.
His plan was to get something for Blackwood instead of nothing when Blackwood inevitably walks away. You don't think this was his plan? This is exactly his plan.
No, I don't think it backfired. I think this was the hope.Remains to be seen. Seems like they were rotating Vanecek and Georgiev until Vanecek got hurt. I would hope to hell Asky gets a fair shot. I’m sure they played Georgiev today for the “revenge (lol)” factor and it backfired
I wonder how hard it is to get an NHL goalie to massively change his glove hand techniqueIf Speer can get Georgiev to play like an NHL goalie, he's gonna win the Jack Adams, Nobel Peace prize, EGOT, whatever they can throw at him.
I mean you saw his maskLove Blackwood contributing to the tank after he did big damage to it through the first quarter of the season. Dude's a Shark through and through.
That’s fair, I disagree. Most teams would let their new goalie play their former teamNo, I don't think it backfired. I think this was the hope.
Only way that happens is if they ride Askarov while Speer works with him so Grier can trade him asapIf Speer can get Georgiev to play like an NHL goalie, he's gonna win the Jack Adams, Nobel Peace prize, EGOT, whatever they can throw at him.
Goalies are pretty random. Georgiev, for all his flaws, is the NHL's reigning wins leader, and was legitimately very good just two seasons ago. It wasn't unreasonable to think he might be a respectable backup to Vanecek here while Askarov gets more reps with the Cuda. Obviously, he sure as hell doesn't look like that through 3 games and I don't see any path to it, but I'll give Grier the benefit of the doubt and assume ignorance over malice.I'd rather Aaron Dell than Georgiev. There's simply only ONE reason he's on this team and playing and it ain't because they think he can be salvaged.
We win that game if he doesn't give up two softies like thatI don't have a problem with playing georgiev in this game or any other game. honestly if the sharks didn't f*** up so badly he would have been fine, even though you ask your goalie to make one or both saves on the last 2 goals.
But it still would have been 2-2We win that game if he doesn't give up two softies like that
The plan has clearly been to keep Askarov in the AHL not because he needs a ton more development (no more crazy passes with the puck, no cheating too much to the near side) but because they want another high pick. If Vanacek didn't bravely protect the fans from the puck with his face, they would have rotated those two for the rest of the year unless one of them started playing well enough to trade for whatever someone will give.Remains to be seen. Seems like they were rotating Vanecek and Georgiev until Vanecek got hurt. I would hope to hell Asky gets a fair shot. I’m sure they played Georgiev today for the “revenge (lol)” factor and it backfired
lol Kunin spitting out cliches like a .50 cal machine guns
not wrong. We win that game if he doesn't give up two softies like that
If you legitimately thought that then you drank Mike's kool-aid.Goalies are pretty random.
