It’s the proper plan. Trade him now for assets before he steals a couple wins that would do nothing but cost them a higher pick and then walk for nothing. Not sure what you wanted him to do

I think the plan was more gradual. Vanacek was supposed to be the 1A and 4giev and Askarov splitting the 1B with Asky taking it over completely by about February with Georgie waived.

I understand the reasoning behind trading Blackwood, but there's only one reason to play Georgiev - for failure.

Vanecek is better than Gorgiev, but he’s no Blackwood. Not even close.

I'd rather Aaron Dell than Georgiev. There's simply only ONE reason he's on this team and playing and it ain't because they think he can be salvaged.

I don't give two f***s about the locker room. I care about not losing UFA's for nothing and having enough bullets to get enough good players so we can have a power play that doesn't ice the puck or go 0 for 2 on two nearly back to back power plays. I care about not having to play Goodrow in the top 9. I care about getting some better defensemen. And I care about having a Top 4 pick in this draft so we can draft either another top 6 forward or a puck carrying defenseman.

Pretty sure from Blackwood's comments he is quite appreciative of Grier for sending him to a good situation, while still getting good value back for a pending UFA. I'm sure the players in the locker room understand that and are happy for him.

Its not like Blackwood was turning us into a contender. Instead of being a bottom 5 team, he was making us a bottom 10 team. If people in the locker room feel like their career is being wasted as a result of the trade, I don't know what their expectations are being on this team.
