Ralph and Jim have good chemistry already. Not sure if Ralph wants a full time gig again bit he would be a fine replacement for Bob when Bob decides to retire.

One thing that I really liked was that Doughty didn't try to do too much, kept things simple, as did his partner who had another terrific game. Forbort is finally coming around. Would be a shame after all this wait he gets lost due to expansion.

Solid 60 minute game. Even though the Preds out shot us, I never felt for a second that we were on the back foot. Thought Kopi had a great game.

Beautiful grind it out game.

Budaj!!!! Shutout #4!!!!

Nolan is going beast mode. Looking good.

Kopitar with an assist!!!!

Muzzin is ****ing terrible with the puck on his stick, but I'm too happy to care!!!

Muzzin will be traded first.

Totally serious.

A game like this is exactly why sometimes people look at Corsi instead of raw shots. We controlled 55% of the attempts. There were a lot of blocks and misses. Preds would often come screaming down the outside and take a one-and-done opportunity. They did get some quality looks, but we were in control the majority of that game, particularly from the 2nd period on (twilight zone!).

Kopitar in particular played about 5 min less than his usual average, had a beauty assist, some fantastic PK work including a solo rush to get a faceoff in the other zone, and was a game high 77% CF% at even strength. He was 40% on faceoffs, which is probably easily explained by his massive wrist brace, but other than that, can't ask for much more than to skate the puck into the net himself.

Those were a huge two points against a team breathing down our necks in the standings. Especially considering they were allowed to repeatedly elbow/hit Nolan in the face. I wonder if the refs got pissed at him and were making a point after he shoved Johansen when he was sitting on the bench shelf?

I was thinking the same thing. Strangis brings out a looser side of Jim Fox.

Yeah there was some great banter between those two.

Wondering aloud right now but are these tryouts for a replacement  I'm not ignoring Nickson either to be honest

Very nice. Carter continues to be a monster, and its nice seeing Dowd/Shore contribute. A well balanced effort.

They were looking to call something on him from that point on. And they did with that bs roughing call after getting elbowed for a second time. Ignored the elbow but had no problem calling his retaliation afterwards.:shakehead

There was one play where the puck was dumped into the Kings zone and Muzzin started to skate towards the blue line while the puck & a Preds player went skating by him, chasing the puck into the corner.

I remember that. I was telling my wife that suicide step-up is something you see in Amateur leagues, not by NHL Defensemen! I was guilty as charged when I was learning to play defense.

Big win. Solid win. 4 goals without Toffoli. What else can you say? Just gotta keep it going.

They're 3-1-1 since Carter called out the whole team. 11GF, which isn't great, but 4GA in 5 games.

How is Patches doing? Last time I read about him Habs fans weren't happy (though they could have been upset about their entire roster minus Price)

He came under fire (and I agreed with this) for wearing the C and the team falling off a cliff last year after Price went down. The team had talent and shouldn't have failed on that many levels. He and PK were critized for lack of leadership. now there is the side that said that PK is/was a locker room problem and when you start losing like they did, that can really become an issue.

THis year, he seems more relaxed and that is translating pretty well. He has 14 goals and 27 pts so far, and i think Weber in the room and establishing himself as a leader has helped.
