Also the playoff talk is funny. This team is awful, yet people are still thinking they can squeeze in. Again, if the manager actually managed the team properly, waived a pylon or 2, made a trade or tried one of the kids in GR, then who knows what would happen. Yzerman is "tanking without actually tanking". He knows this team is bad on paper, but keeps the same roster in tact because he knows it's a horrible roster. He also knows there are 4 studs at the top of the draft.

Agreed. There is no Yzerplan. The status quo is supposed to be good enough for Wing fans.

walman lost the plot in the second half last year and that's probably why he was shipped out, but his enthusiasm was refreshing and his personality is probably sorely missed from the locker room

Did you consider that 2/3 of the roster lost the plot after February last year? And that might have t more to do with coaching?

i mean, yeah i agree with you. not sure what that has to do with my point tho. i was responding to a post that called walman trash and that his celly's were annoying. i think his performance in san jose proves that he is not a trash hockey player (he might be a trash teammate or a trash human, but i doubt it) and while everyone is entitled to their opinion, i personally found his celly game and his personality and attitude in media appearances to be refreshing and enjoyable, and i speculate that a good number of his teammates thought so too....

...when they were winning. if i had to guess how it went down with jake, it's that he is being his authentic self. he's probably an easy going, fun loving guy who enjoys making people laugh. but when the team started to play like ass and his performance took a turn for the worse, but he's still joking around and having a great time, it probably rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. the team limped to the finish line and came up a hair short, and it was probably seen as though if jake had knocked off the antics and taken the second half more seriously, they would've picked up 1 more point along the way and made the playoffs

and they're probably right. his performance in san jose proves that he has that ability in him, but for whatever reason he chose not to try his best here. maybe that's coaching, maybe he got too comfortable after signing a 10 million dollar contract, who knows. getting shipped out the way he did was probably a huge wakeup call for walman, and that's almost certainly why he's playing the way he is right now. can he keep it up? only jake knows. i could easily see a world where he plays lights out for the next year and a half, signs a giant contract only to become a huge liability by year 2

i really like jake. i really wish it could have worked out here but i can easily see why it might not have. i wish him the best and hope he keeps hitting those griddy's (just not against us)
