I appreciate that Larkin is driven and wants to win... but also, it's a game. Have fun. You get paid millions to play a game. Throughout his tenure as captain, I've never gotten the impression that he's enjoying the ride. He's never really unclenched.
I can see that also. Hard to tell if he hates losing, or if he's maybe just not a very outgoing guy. I can't say I personally would love a camera shoved in my face during every loss.
Like you said you got 8+ million reasons to put on a smile. I appreciate his serious nature when it comes to being a captain, I think you need that in a captain, but you also need a guy who can get spirits up. I do think he has some huge shoes to fill with the list of Wings captains historically and that puts a pressure you don't feel in many cities. Especially when we have been hot garbage for basically his entire career. You likely start to feel like the common denominator.
Still love the guy. He's been the reason to tune in for some really bad years. Want to see him get his moment in HockeyTown.
On that note, I do believe they need a coaching change and/or a locker room change. They may have all great locker room guys but that doesn't matter if it doesn't work on the ice. As much as Larkin looks like he isn't enjoying the ride, the whole team looks like that. Not just him. Minus Fischer usually.
