They need more out of Pearson. What's his contract going to be? Only so many over inflated contracts a team can have under the cap. Brown has been there for years. Gaborik seems to be there now. Kopitar is inching that way. Muzzin has been in that category this year. Toffoli needs to be at 8 goals over 20 games, not 8 goals over 30.

Could be an interesting next half decade for all the wrong reasons.

Gabo.

last 67 NHL games: 13G 14A.

Ouch.

Kinda wish Gabo would retire, he is not going to last four more years in this league.

I was folding laundry during the game. That was pretty exciting.

Yeah I kept waiting for it to pick up but outside of a few rush chances it never really did. Was defensive trench warfare all game, with moments of high pace (puck movement) and creativity around the ground game. I can appreciate it as a player--as in how these guys can make saavy puck plays with a Chara crushing them on one side and support coming in on the other--but it's not fun to watch frequently. Glad games like that are mostly the exception, but I did have this worry over the last few years and we've never really "solved" it, though in the playoff I guess you don't have to because it's mostly heavyweights. The worry I'm talking about is dealing with teams who will back off completely and allow you to have controlled possession for a breakout before stacking their side of the red line--we have ALWAYS struggled against those teams. I remember a game when the Canucks came to town several years ago with half their lineup trashed and they played this exact way and won with 13-15 shots on goal. The bruins didn't do that all game, much like a few of the past opponents they'll give you different looks and if they're already in pressuring you they'll stay there, but when we controlled the puck, they said fine and retreated to their side of the rink and waited for us to have to dump it since they weren't going to allow a controlled entry.

Reminds me of the Minnesota Wild, Preds, and old PHX teams. They suck the life out of the game.

The old Kings would say "Fine", dump that puck 100ft behind your D, make them turn around to get puck, and then hit the crap out of you.

By the second period, teams didn't want to go get that puck.

I thought about that a lot today. Watching guys swing by checks to keep up the pace/speed and not get caught in deep. Wish games like this we would just go back to crushing them, totally agree with how we dealt with that. Obviously it's impossible to keep up for 82 games plus playoffs but would be nice to see the return to the aggressive, finish-your-checks forecheck against teams that are content to be passive.

Too much salary still on the table all the way to 2021. He can play in 41 games every year and get every cent. I don't think he'll be going too far away.

Great, more injuries.

And now a 4 minute waist level high stick.

I thought in the past I've seen where this is not a penalty? Doesn't your stick need to be at least above your head??

And then Chara played on the PP - while he was bleeding...? I thought you couldn't be on the ice if you were "actively bleeding."

Also the crosscheck called against Doughty, in retaliation to the crosscheck he received - and of course only Doughty got the penalty.

The refs missed plenty today.

The Rask pushing the net over fiasco needs to be reviewable and he needs to be fined by the NHL. That is blatant cheating and he was caught on video, you can't let stuff like that go.

That was unbelievable! AA gets crosschecked into the side of the net, no call, then Rask purposely pushed the net off. What were the officials watching? Then the crap after the icing, with the Bruins buying almost 3 min of rest by crying over the play.

The buyout on his contract looks ugly, just like Brown's contract.

Yeah, it's a lot of cap space for those two. Among others. Too much to be in a really good position to compete. Not an easy answer to be found anywhere either. The Hawks traded Saad, so maybe do that with Toffoli, but the Kings don't have Patrick Kane, and they're not going to find a Panarin anywhere. Wouldn't hurt if Gaborik could find the fountain of youth like Hossa.

Nothing happened to Clowe. Just have to do some more clock shenanigans at home to cancel it all out.

That's my hope, it's about all I got left.

Kopitar is on pace for Nine goals...9G, for 14 million dollar salary.

Pretty sure Kopitar is making more than Crosby.

I don't know if you noticed, but I did; Kopitar still has his wrist taped and very likely it isn't 100%. That makes his job as a center, and shooting much much harder. But criticize away....

Kings didn't deserve a point anyway, they literally did nothing for 40 minutes.

This is a deserved loss.

Did Kopitar/Toffoli/Carter/Pearson/Muzzin/Drew even register a shot this game ?

yes 1
NO
NO
yes 2
yes 1
NO -missed high and wide twice, shot 2 into his own man[1 on the pp],

:shakehead

If he is that injured, then he needs to be taken out of the lineup, and heal properly. Like Quick is doing.

I'm ok with the Rask delay of game not being called. The Kings looked like **** on their PP's that game and pulling the goalie while on the PP would have just led to an empty net goal.

PP: Why the **** is Carter down in the RW corner where he has no shot? Shouldn't you design the PP by putting your best shots where they'll get good looks? Like Carter in the left hand circle? The Overchicken spot as it were.

You don't know that. It's hockey. Pretty much anything can happen. :yo:
