It's most likely related to conditioning issue. Gabo is not 25 anymore, the guy will be 35 in Feb, and has a lot of injuries on his resume.

Yeah, he just came back from injury and probably isn't ready for the 3 games in 4 nights.

You know, that move by Rask might actually have upset me if we didn't have Quick on our team. He's got some tricks up his sleeve as well. Haven't seen one as blatant as that one though, gotta give it up.

A goal haha

Six straight periods of real hockey without a goal.

They were trying to bore the opponents into mistakes, but today they outbored themselves.

Generating quality shots is the most difficult thing for this team, but connecting with consecutive passes seems to be as much of a hurdle for the Kings.

Lazy Sunday performance from all of the top guys, and another game where the inept PP can't even generate any momentum because of their poor passing and execution.

Anyone know if they had any second or third chances on Rask as a result of rebounds, redirections, or tips? I can't think of any.

Bottom six had a couple but the top guys? nope.

Zero

The top players generated a whopping 4 shots on goal, 4, that's it.

At least show up.

Kopitar/Pearson/Toffoli/Carter/Drew/Muzzin, 4(Pearson had two of these) Shots on goal between them all.

That's just, lottery pick team bad.

Even with 3 games in 4 nights played.

Even less time than that with guys banged up and out against the top possession team in the league that plays a style we haven't yet been able to figure out this season.

2-2 on the road trip so far, there were bound to be some stinkers in here with the schedule. This one had disappointment written all over it, there's really nothing much to read into it.

Kings are not going to make the playoff's with Kopitar/Doughty playing like they are.

It's just not going to happen.

I am ok with losses.

It's how they lose, that bothers me.

Had Carter, and the Kings depth players not gone on a scoring spree.

The Kings would be in line for a top five pick. I really believe that.

Scary.

Kopitar/Doughty got to figure something out.

I am still holding on to the belief that they top guys will eventually get going. When they do and if Quick comes back, all will be well

That's my hope, it's about all I got left.

Kopitar is on pace for Nine goals...9G, for 14 million dollar salary.

Pretty sure Kopitar is making more than Crosby.

But Kopitar is on pace for 16 posts. The announcers get more excited when someone hits a post than a goal

I kept thinking that in 2015 and we were convinced this team will "flip a switch" and turn it on in the final weeks of the season, but it didn't turn out that way.

Same goes for the end of 2016 when they coasted into the playoffs by playing some uninspired hockey. "They're saving their efforts and energy for the playoffs" we thought. That didn't turn out to be true.

Now we're thinking the same of all of the underachieving and highly paid leaders of the team, that at some point they will turn it on. Given the way things have turned out over the past couple of seasons, I'm not sure if that'll happen.

I think those players in particular certainly can't play any worse than they are now, but I'm also not convinced that they'll able to maintain any consistent effort from now until April or beyond if they are so fortunate.

The Kings are finding ways to win in spite of them not getting much contribution from their top players. Carter has been the lone standout in terms of production, followed by Toffoli who's been hot and cold. Even Carter has cooled off a bit in these past two games, Pearson got off to a great start and has completely disappeared. Lewis wasn't going to keep producing, neither is King or anyone else in the bottom six.

But the guy wearing the 'C' and the minutes leader on the team have to do more on the score sheet. I'm sick of hearing about Kopitar's ability to shut down offense. I guess he's so great at it that he's shutting down his own ability to generate offensive chances as well.

Surviving on the 3v3 point. They're 9-13-9 in regulation, which would be good for 22nd in the league, if you take out any OT/SO points around the league. With Quick out, Gaborik just back, Kopitar, Doughty, and Muzzin all off, Toffoli and Pearson inconsistent, they're probably about where they should be when you add all that up.

When you do add up all the numbers, and include the OT point, they're in the thick of it, and they haven't completely broken down like Montreal did last year. That counts for something. One reason we can hope that if the top guys eventually get going, the season isn't over. Helps that the West doesn't look to be as strong as it's been in recent years.

Can't lose games in regulation. 15 of the 16 playoff teams last year had the 15 fewest losses in 60 minutes. Kings are sitting 20th right now.

Hard to predict Kopitar would have 3 goals, 30+ games into the season.

Still, Kings are going nowhere with that type of goal production out of a 10M cap hit player.

That's exactly what I've been saying. If they went down swinging like they used to do during the Andy Murray era, I can live with that. Those teams were scrappy and even the top stars like Ziggy gave a damn.

Aside from Carter's outburst after the Buffalo game, I haven't seen much on-ice leadership being displayed by the guys who play the important minutes.

Yeah, they earned the benefit of the doubt for a few years there. I'd say they've lost it in the 200 games since Game 5 against the Rangers.

Sold their soul for 2014.

Lost a lot of leadership as well.

Mitchell retired, Williams gone, Stoll is coaching prospects(seemingly retired).

The Kings resolve, has never been good without them.

They need more out of Pearson. What's his contract going to be? Only so many over inflated contracts a team can have under the cap. Brown has been there for years. Gaborik seems to be there now. Kopitar is inching that way. Muzzin has been in that category this year. Toffoli needs to be at 8 goals over 20 games, not 8 goals over 30.

Could be an interesting next half decade for all the wrong reasons.
