The way The Blues were skating and playing this game, not good at keeping the puck on their sticks, or getting time with possession in The O-Zone, they were lucky to get a point out of it. I hope Fowler can integrate himself into our defensive pairings quickly, andThe Blues' play in their own zone will tighten up, and their Neutral Zone and O-Zone play will improve.

I think a game like tonight is exactly why Army wants to push us to be competitive and make the playoffs. Make no mistake, the Stars play playoff-style hockey and we clearly do not (yet). They win puck battles, they use their frames to shield the puck extremely well, they play with poise and confidence, and they run that slight interference-that-isn't-quite-a-penalty that you see in the playoffs. It's big-boy hockey the likes of which we played at our best, and we need to play against on a consistent basis so that all of our young players have a true measuring stick for what winning hockey looks like.

The Stars did an incredible job throwing slight interference though all aspects of the game. I think that's why Thomas was so pissed off at that one call, they've been chipping us all game and the one time we try it you call us on it? He was also visibly upset with the linesman all game, most noticeably after he lost the final face-off to Duchene.

The Dallas Stars might have some detractors on this board, but they are the odds-on favorite (Possibly second to the Panthers) to win the Stanley Cup. They are a battle hardened team that has made back to back Western Conference Finals and who's core is a great blend of players mostly in their primes, supplemented by older, still viable vets and younger guys with great skill who can win matchups down the lineup card. I'd love to see us play them ten more times this season, and I can totally understand why Army doesn't want to pull the plug and sink to the bottom, b/c man once you do that it's hard to build a culture back up again to play the right way and win in this league.

what'd you guys think of fowler?

He's 33 years old. He'll be 34 next year. He should not be in our future plans beyond that, and hoepfully isn't until then. No shade on Fowler. He's a good D but he is aged outside our core's competitive window.

*Note - I am in the minority for this viewpoint. Everyone else loves him.

I don't think anyone is disputing this. But he is clearly better than guys like peru and POJ. He makes us a better team over the next 2 years. That, at reasonable cost, seems like a good thing.

At least this team is watchable and not getting blown out with hard to watch goals against….just need to find some offense while keeping the defensive structure.
The structure is definitely much improved but the execution and decision-making in every facet when they have the puck in either zone is horrid and it leads to a lack of possession. Its brutal to watch at times.

They need to simplify their game in the Ozone and stop panicking when they have time and space in the Dzone. They flub so many passes and clear attempts.. then they finally get in the Ozone and they fan on shots or force low % passes through everyone looking for a highlight reel goal instead of being patient or just putting the puck on net. Of course the puck rarely gets on goal.

Hopefully Montgomery will coach this out of those that are willing to make changes. Some wont and those are the players we need gone no matter who they are.

No amount of crying about his age is going to change the fact that he's better than all of our other options and chances are, we won't be keeping him past next year anyway.

Faulk is so useless. He is an offensive defenseman that can’t QB a powerplay, and can’t play defense. Someone on this board got mad at me for saying he sucks just 2 weeks ago, but I’d love to hear what he brings to this team.

Should have had Broberg out there instead of him.

Anyone can say a player "sucks" but I'd like to hear what you'd do about it. You gonna scratch him and play Kessel? Play Parayko and Broberg 30 mins a night? You wanna trade him? To where and who for?

It wasn't a great play by Faulk but Thomas also let Duchene walk right by him. But no one will call out Thomas because he's our guy. I'm willing to bet most guys will get walked from time to time in 3 on 3 gimmick hockey. But at least Faulk was the one who got beat so at least it proved to everyone that you were right by saying that Faulk "sucks" a week ago. I guess Monty must be an idiot for playing him 25 mins a game because clearly he's a terrible hockey player.

Should have had Broberg out there? Who knows what would have happened but if he had been the one getting beat I guarantee people would have let it slide. There were plenty of reasons why only got 1 point tonight and Faulk may have been one of them but there is plenty of blame to go around. We got beat by a clearly better team. We could blame our offense for only getting 16 shots all game but then we couldn't scapegoat one player we already decided we don't like.
