Ok but the comment I was replying to said it was a mismatch and that they would rather have Hajek out there for some reason.

Oh, no, I don't agree with that. I didnt see the post you were responding to. Sorry about that.

When the opposing teams top forwards are on the ice in the final minutes of the game, Fox should be on the ice, period. He is our best overall defense man and I trust him more than anyone else to shutdown players in our division such as Ovechkin, Marchand, Crosby, Pastrnak, etc.

Can we withstand teams like Washington in a 7 game series? Please dont tell me we beat them in the regular season... how'd that work for us against Carolina.
We probably don't but so what? We were not expected to be contenders lol. Hell, probably more people had us missing the playoffs rather than getting in.

Im not saying f*** Adam Fox. He is one of the best players on the team. I was pointing out that there should be context when analyzing statistics.

I have Fox as our second most important player after Panarin in regards to the teams success. He is already a legitimate top pair defense man in his second season in the league.

No need to overreact. Ovechkin has had his way with the Rangers his entire career, and even at old age is lighting the lamp. My comment was more a testament to Ovechkin's ability to capitalize on his scoring chances rather than Fox's ability to limit scoring chances.
It is what it is. It's a physical mismatch. You can't push him out of the way but you can tie up his stick

just found out the greatest goal scorer in hockey history will score goals sometimes no matter how badly he is outplayed damn bro that sucks
yeah, leaving him wide open in front is a good strategy. you know... since he's the greatest goal scorer in history.

So what? That shows you what is needed.

Howden went 37 games without a goal. He only got one tonight because he was on the ice for some reason with a minute left and Strome gifted him an ENG. He sat for one game. Gauthier has sat a lot more. He has way more ability and should play.
Imagine if Gauthier was on the ice for all three goals the caps scored the last two games. All huge goals.

Saying Igor injured his vagina isnt gonna fly.

At least my frustrations are saved for when they actually lose. We have people be miserable in threads after big wins and the Pavel Buchnevich thread instead of talking about how great this breakout season is for the guy that's been our 3rd best player, it's about how we're going to eventually lose him. But yep, I'm unreasonably negative.

you shouldn't put all the kids together then state you dont want that mismatch with them being matched against Ovi.. ending up with what is a tier above benching. If it's that bad of a mismatch in your eyes, with the opposing team getting the last change, maybe they shouldn't be together?

Put Gauthier in against Buffalo. Kid needs a chance to play; I’d sit Lemieux or Howden.

Kreider-Zibanejad-Buchnevich
Panarin-Strome-Kakko
Lafreniere-Chytil-Gauthier
Rooney-Howden-Blackwell

If Kakko cannot start scoring while playing with a guy like Panarin then there’s nothing else the team can do to get him to score.

maybe switch Gauthier and Blackwell

1. Zibanejad posterizing that whiny cow Dillon for the GW was just...*chef's kiss*

2. We have a franchise player, Adam Fox.

3. Kakko is in his head a bit right now. He buries that chance at the end of the 2nd 10/10 times in Liga.

4. I'll be honest they didn't play that well but the results were awesome.

What has happened with Bitteto? Smith needs a game or two off badly. I'm happy this coach has realized Kakko can play defense and gave him a shift next to defensive stalwart Howden towards the end of the game.

Neither Kakko nor Laf has really taken their spot assignments with the big four and run with it. At the same time, I don't think the big four are keenly interested in the developmental aspects of the game when they're in the middle of a man's game trying to win their shift. In other words maybe they are interested in mentoring them at practice and off the ice, but when they're trying to win a game, their job is not babysitting these two. Neither has proven that they can keep up.

This was never going to be a classic rebuild with them getting big minutes. This is a hybrid rebuild with a bubble-level state of things. They're on internships doing entry level jobs until they can prove they can work on the company's big-boy projects.

I still feel giving the kids their own line is a good thing. I think Laf and Kakko play in deference whenever they're with the big four.

I don't like it because they don't play.

Kakko is generating so many turnovers at his own blue line and in the NZ which have led to rushes going the other way, it'd be great if the team could give him line mates who are more likely to take advantage of them than the ones he has right now. Blackwell has kind of run his course on that line but I do think adding in a speedier body next to Chytil and Laf can help them, plus he and Laf played pretty well together in the short stint they had as linemates.

Honestly, the Flyers have a better record than us but does anyone in their right mind think they're actually a better team than us? They get blown out every other game and can't seem to allow less than 3 goals and usually 4+.

No Philly has been legit terrible the entire season. Typical AV start where they PDO themselves up the standings but they've crashed back to earth since they aren't getting the elite goaltending that Alain has gotten for most of his coaching career.

He baffles me tbh. He didn't have a mobile puck moving defense for most of his stay here or really at all in Philly but he insists on implementing a style that relies on it. It crushed them in the playoffs last year and its killing them ever harder this year since Hart has been Fart.
