I agree that this is what we are doing. I am of the mind that we should be developing our kids; winning games be damned. if we win, great. But that cannot be our focus in a year where we have so much dead cap space and the divisions are as they are. We are still building; focus on building.

We are but that's NOT going to happen. You can't just throw the season out the window, by allowing them to play minutes that they didn't deserve. The players that do deserve to play want to WIN. Is it fair to Mika, Panarin and the likes to lose games just because you are hell bent on forcing minutes on players that have been sucking wind? How does that make sense?
Hell yeah, I wanna see them play more......but how about producing? How about doing the things that Kakko has been doing lately and the way Chytil has been an animal prior to injury and picking up where he had left off? Only thing missing is some scoring. In large part its because Laf looks lost and has screwed up much more than he has made good plays. Sorry, but thats what I am seeing. He'll get it, just needs to be sooner than later.......maybe tonight? Yeah, it WILL BE tonight.
For sure. That line will get at least 2 goals and 4 assists, being a part of 3 goals. This POST WILL AGE WELL.

Sports hernia surgery. He's finished.
Thanks, hope for his sake it didnt destroy his manhood. That would suck not to be able to do the deed at his young age in life, not hockey life. Bad enough for him, that he is one scary looking dude.

I'm not claiming it will happen. I am saying it is what is in the team's best interest. The idea is to win the cup (or seriously compete for it and get that experience). We are not ready for either. So, the priority SHOULD BE to develop our future stars and get the best pick we can. I will be really pissed if they break up the kid line. KK had a great opp to shoot on Saturday, saw Panarin in his peripheral vision and deferred. If they play together, they will do what comes natural. Also, getting a few shifts without Smith and Hajek behind them would help as well.

That doesn't concern me. As long as he's done screwing our chances of winning, my interest ends there.

You have to earn your minutes. Give them time. They had a couple of shifts last night keeping the puck deep in the O-zone. But they been giving it up in the neutral zone a lot more often. By comparison, the Zibad line had the puck in deep for most of their shifts. Hence the extended icetime.

It's rare for Kreids to play 20 minutes or more. But he did in both games in Wash. I think the reason Kreids doesn't get that much icetime most nights, is because he is not that effective. It probably effects his speed and endurance. In the 6 games he played 20 minutes this season, he has one point. It's most likely why he averages 17 minutes TOI the last 5 years.

every metric is saying they are earning way more mins than they are getting. Shooting percentage is the only one down and that always reverts to the mean. This isn’t good enough and knoblauch just said so

"Why bother" ? How can we have a conversation on the faults/cause of the 2021 Ranger PP sucking when we leave out a key ingredient for the success of it last year ? If it is not something you want to discuss ...then just don't don't tell the rest of us to let it go because it no longer suits your tastes.

The "key ingredient" as you call it is not available. We need to figure this out with our current assets. Let's discuss how good the PP was with Jagr and Nylander. Same thing and not helpful.

What is true is "he was a key ingredient and he is NOT available, but was.
Cant be denied that the PP hasn't produced w/o him, like they did WITH him.
Have to believe mgmt. weighed the 2 options KNOWING they would be worse w/o him, but hoping for the best.
Now they're paying him to watch TV.
Great asset mgmt. If they wanted "no further indiscretions, it should have been in his 2 year contract, to be terminated if so.
Maybe something like that isn't allowed in a contract, but if it is, they screwed up. Could have used that money elsewhere.

True that. If they did have Fox/Lindgren or even Trouba/KAM they would feel more comfortable.
Cant fathom it would be like......"okay, you have Smith and Hayek so you better be ready to hustle back".

No one skater ever loses a game by themself. We have one of the best PKs in the league. Are you going to blame the guy who takes the penalty for the goal each time? or do we blame the player who made the mistake that led to the PP goal? Or the goalie for not stopping the shot? He got his stick up a few times and that hurt, but he didn't lose the game for us.

Hindsight is 20/20. If management knew before the season that he would tear the locker room apart with his antics, they wouldn't have extended him. But, what happened happened and no point in reliving it. If anything these discussions should focus on his immaturity and how he put his views ahead of the team; but that won't happen with a certain slice of this country.

Yeah, exactly. Lets blame Panarin for taking his FIRST minor this year. "If they would have scored and w9n the game "because of it". Ridiculous.

I agree to a point, i don't want us to get down to buffalo where games don't matter and its ok to lose as long as the kids are playing. I think what they are doing is actually fine, sheltering the kids when they can and trying to teach them other aspects of the game as we go. Road games is where we are going to notice the kids minutes because other teams are gonna target them as matchups for their top line,it makes it hard to play them as much as we would like. I think home games we are gonna see that line more and to be honest Chytil looks like he's still trying to find his speed anyway. If there's one issue with playing time id say while Zib was struggling all this time he should have been replaced by Kakko or Lafreniere on pp1 for that time atleast.
