It boggles my mind how teams get away with that and we never do it. We just let them blow past us. Every team gets away with the little interference
It's the hardest rule in the game to call with how badly worded and poorly implemented it is. Either picks are allowed or they're not.

Lafreniere is the 1st of the draft classes to lose a literal year of prime development and growth to the pandemic.

You basically have to set every draft class affected by it a year back.

Also, yeah Lafreniere just isn't as good as Hughes in general. But theres also other factors.
The problem with that explanation is that Stutzle, Raymond, Jarvis and Lundell were in the same draft and are significantly better than Laf.

Laff and Kakko sucking is not because of Gallant. Gallant is an OKAY coach, but Laff and Kakko are not good.
The one thing you notice about good young players is that they keep there feet moving from Neutral zone to O zone. Thats how they sneak in behind defensemen. Kakko and laf are slow with their feet. They dont keep there feet moving with the puck. They coast and get pushed out to the perimeter and immediately get neutralized

Kakko is the type of player who takes longer to develop. Guys whos games are based purely on speed/skill translate quickly.

Kakko needs to grow into his game style at this level. Sure its frustrating he's not as good as Hughes, and he likely will never score quick stickhandling or dangle goals that show up all over highlight reels like Hughes, but he is progressing alright.
Matthew Tkachuk and Brady Tkachuk beg to differ.
