I dont think you were watching the same game...?

I did not get the sense that Vegas was "such a better team all around". I actually think the Coyotes stacked up very well against them and played a solid game. This was a game that I felt could've gone either way. The GWG was a lucky bounce off a player's back who didnt even have a stick in his hand. I also felt that Lehner won this game for Vegas.

Yes the Yotes let up after dominating a majority of the first half of the game, but I felt that they still had grade A scoring chances all the way thru the game... even into the final 6 on 4.

If the Coyotes generate the scoring chances like they did in game 1 I could easily see them securing at least 3-4 points still.
Watched the same game. I have also watched Vegas continuously dominate the West since day one, something Arizona does not do.

For anyone to say Arizona is close to Vegas, they’re talking about location because the two are not the same on the ice.

The first 30 minutes of the game Vegas played poorly and we were clicking. Once the patch goal it was all down hill from there. Vegas is the superior team, there’s no argument to be had there.

You understand the Patch goal came with like 3 minutes left in the 2nd right?

Also yes Vegas is a better team. But if you understand hockey and watched that entire game, it is clear this Coyotes team can compete with them.

This team definitely looks better than last year so far. All we have to do to know if they can consistently compete with Vegas is wait a few days. No need to argue about it now. 4 games will be a sufficient sample size.

We move the puck so much better this year, it's crazy! I'm entertained watching these guys actually make crisp passes instead of dump and chase. We've been able to sustain pressure in the ozone and get some extra chances out of it. Coupled with our neutral zone game and we seem more dangerous. If only we could defend and transition out of our zone more like Montreal we might be able to have a 3-0 record to start.

We still have too many moments where we can't put it together effectively enough though.

This is too reminiscent of last year and the last few years. We can move the puck around, but in many situations, any disruption to timing or movement of players and puck, and we have no safety net option and the team is thrown off.

I feel like we are the comedian who has no improv skills whatsoever. We have jokes. Some hit and some miss, but when they do miss, we have no way of righting the ship when those misses occur and we have to dig ourselves out. This happens not just when we are behind, but when we are ahead, too. Forced passes to players that don't have space to do anything is a hallmark of this team. That, and the occasional defense that looks like it is 50% man and 50% zone, but no one on the ice knows it until the opposition moves it around for 20 seconds and we chase ourselves into a defensive position.

For all the hammering of Capobianco, I thought all of the defence looked slow getting back at times. I think that's a direct result of coaching trying to get them to push the play and create offense. Obviously they need to get better and Capo needs to knock the rust off fast but the encouraging thing is we can see a lot of positive coaching going on. Definitely wasn't happening last year. Hope it continues.

Oh boy, the ol classic “do you understand hockey” term.

I’ll just shut it down now.

When I evaluate a team I put a good amount of focus on how the team dictates the tempo and play, as well as, scoring chances.

This Yotes team is not elite by any means, but compared to where I thought this team would be, they have exceeded my expectations SO FAR (3 games). I thought this team had a 50-50 shot of sneaking in as a 4 seed going head to head with the Wild... i still think that is where they land, but I like the chances of that happening more so than I did at the start of the season.

I understand that. And certainly no hard feelings. Just a difference in opinions, that’s all.
Yes sir. After watching every single game this team has played since I can remember I am very encouraged by the play and can absolutely sense a different vibe with this years team. I dont know how long you have been watching the Yotes, but as a fan this has been a breath of fresh air...albeit 3 games.

I’ve been in your shoes before. It’s easy to take a liking to the team when new faces arrive and the product is different on the ice from years past. I’m very in tune with the team, been around a while.

We still have a lot of work to do before we become a relative team. Once we drop some bodies from the current roster, open up that cap space and let BA have his way, it’ll be even better.

Brand new GM, starting a moderate rebuild and a sweep of the club house culture will be refreshing for this club. We’re just not there yet.

Please no. Ness had plenty of chances to show he's not an NHL defenseman.

Well, our options are pretty limited right now. Lyubushkin's still waiting to clear customs. Gross and Soderstrom are the only other two D men on the taxi squad. In Tucson, we've got Cam Dineen, Dysin Mayo, and Ness. The long and short of it is that we have one hot prospect in Soderstrom, two middling offensive D-men in Gross and Capo, and a bunch of fringe guys on the farm.

I think one of BA's top priorities in the off-season should be to build up some better depth for us on the back end. I don't know if Mike Callahan and Ty Emberson are going to be ready, Axel Bergqvist is a shrimp, and Filip Westerlund is an enigma. As much grief as we give Goligoski, Hjalmarsson, and Demers, they're experienced guys who eat minutes that the rest of our depth chart can't handle.

Fair take on what is happening.

Curious for your take... do you think this team can make the playoffs this year?

Definitely agree. Lots of the defense looked slow.

It does make me wonder how they are going to perform this season... is the age catching up too much? If Hammer, Goligoski, AND Demers all continue to play this way it's going to be rough, imo. Just looks like their conditioning in general isn't where it needs to be. In particular, Goligoski looked spent in the 3rd last night several times. Hard to tell if that's just how he is or what, because it's Goligoski.

Yeah I do. I think it’ll be close with Minnesota. I think we’ll get smacked in the first round, though.

We’re on the right path and that’s something I don’t think we’ve been on in a while. Bringing in Larsson/Hayden/Pitlick is what this team needs for the bottom six. A bottom six of all motor with some skill that isn’t afraid to bang around. I think the real take will be when we have a lot of cap dropping off this year and seeing what BA will do with it. I’ve got full confidence in BA. He’s a no bullshit blue collar guy and I think that’s what he’s going to build. A team that has a lot of skill up front and a bottom six that will beat the wheels off the opponent. Or atleast I hope that’s the case haha.

But to answer your question, yes I think we will contend for that last spot.

Hoping for a win in the next three but suspect we will get a 1 point ot loss. Vegas is 10 lbs bigger per average and will pound Keller and Garland, by the 4th game it will look like Colorado all over again.

T’was the flat dead pp that started the slide, need to be able to recover from such, or better yet execute and it would be no issue.
Boys were on fire most the game and I found myself questioning:
Can they possible sustain their smothering puck thievery for the rest of the game,... for the entire season? Would they realize that skating like banshee’s and thieving pucks is more fun than playing in our own end and be able to continue the pace required to do so?
Hoping last night was not the answer.
