True but the huge conglomerates don’t have an incentive to capex/spend & upgrade their equipment. They will be selling 16K TVs by then.

FWIW: I watched Fox’s Mich-penn state 4k over the weekend and it was better but not eye popping (of course fox is upscaling versus using true 4k equipment & broadcasting in true 4k).
Man I might have to disagree here. I can absolutely tell the difference. We have a 70 inch 4k in the living room and anything less than 4k gets pretty pixelated. On a 4k, its all pretty clear unless you're right up against the screen. Watching the baseball playoffs in 4k is pretty awesome.

Yeah I agree I think Fox does an amazing job with their 1080p up converts to 4K. I think the HDR helps quite a bit in the overall look….I would totally be fine with upconverted 1080p for all sports programming but Ive recently learned that the networks are still feeding their affiliates either 720p or 1080i. Switching to end to end true 1080p programming would require billion dollar investments at both the network as well as local affiliate level with no real means to recoup that investment. Not gonna happen!
