Aren`t they (Claude and Krug) speaking about very different scenarios? Krug speaking about the PK of the Avs being tired on that play where he dove to try and keep it in thinking with that particular unit being out there and defending he felt he had a chance to keep it in and CJ stating that often in the early going on the 2nd night of a back to back, it takes a bit of time for a team to get their skating legs and until then, you kind of hope to contain for a bit until it happens?

I don`t see CJ making excuses, states pretty clearly there was two soft goals

Yes. I read it very quickly this am and the quotes were back to back so I misread it. After rereading, Krug was talking about that specific shift.

Now for the excuse part, why point out the other team is well rested and had their legs today? A lot can be said by not saying something and that's what I feel CJ was doing here. They looked well rested, meaning that the B's were on the back end of 2 games in 2 nights and didn't. They had their legs meaning they B's were tired because they were playing their second game in 2 nights. They came out ready to play meaning the B's came out flat. You can't take the statements at face value without reading between the lines, no?

I really think we should give Zane another look. He's been lights out in providence (unlike Khudobin) and has shown lots of natural ability at the NHL level. He's let in a few weak goals here but I think those are coachable fixes. He's lightning quick and looks like he's got loads of potential. Just like every other position, the backup goaltender spot should be earned rather than assigned.

Also, Zane stopped 38/39 in Providence his last game.

Is that period of time we had Thomas and Rask spoiling us forever on a back-up goalie? Is it supposed to be this difficult with a back-up in net? Christ.

The team just fought hard after falling 3-0 early in two straight games. I get it, most people want to look at the negative every game on here, but the team has been great for 2 weeks, and now 1 awful game and everything is wrong with the team.

I wouldn't say the team has been great the past two weeks, what they've done is manage to win a few games and gather a few points Claude Julien style ... mostly one goal games waiting to capitalize on other teams mistakes. The Tampa game they got the bounces, other games Rask made the difference.

But the underlying problem all season in spite of their record is that the team as a whole is underperforming offensively. Shots on goal alone don't win games, they need to start putting the puck in the net with some consistency. Hopefully they snap out of their funk and find an offensive swagger.

First regulation loss in 2 weeks (7 games), fire the coach. And his coaches.

Every loss, same story from same posters.

They were a Carolina own goal and thirty seconds away from an embarrassing regulation loss. Yet the win seemed to negate most criticism despite them playing like dog poop for 55 minutes, against another awful team.

Yes the comeback against the caps and Panthers were nice, if perhaps unexpected. But just because they didn't have a regulation loss in 7 games means we were all happy with those 7 games. It's hard to argue for firing anyone when they're not losing though. I would have liked to see the PGT if they lost to Carolina.

Harris: David Pastrnak continues red-hot goal-scoring exploits

Even on the night he climbed into a tie atop the NHL goal-scoring list, David Pastrnak wasn’t interested in talking much about himself.

“I wouldn’t like to talk about my goals,” he said.

Just another reason to like David Pastrnak.

The coaches need a shakeup, that is for sure. Whoever is in charge of the Powerplay can be shown the door for starters.

Okay, you are mostly right, rather than playing great the last few weeks, they did something they couldn't do last year instead - win from behind and win games with late goals.

It's something that frustrated many of us last year, the ability for them to let in a goal in the last 5 mins and lose, yet not being able to do it themselves. I think the level of resilience this year says a lot about the personnel, the coach and the player's trust and respect of the coach.

They were due for a stinker. . . could feel it creeping in.

Carlo has looked a bit overwhelmed lately, might be a good time to watch a game or two to reset himself.

Come to think of it, it might help a few guys.

JC yes let's put Carlo in the press box, are you really serious with this, HE IS THEIR BEST DMAN FRIM START TO FINISH OF A GAME.:shakehead::shakehead

Claude with his usual excuses.

Found it amusing that Krug's comments were in direct opposition to Claude's.

But hey, back to back games makes more sense, right Claude? :naughty:

How you turn what Claude says into excuses is laughable. What he stated was fact, he didn't say the Bruins were tired, he pointed out exactly why they lost, starting with weak goaltending, was the weak goaltending an excuse, or rather a fact. Was the fact they were tired of losing and the Bruins didn't get going early enough an excuse or fact, you need to learn the difference.

TRUE: “Until you can find your legs you’ve got to be smart, and we weren’t.â€

TRUE: “We gave up some soft goals and dug ourselves a hole..."

TRUE: “They looked like a well-rested team..."

TRUE: "They had a lot of energy."

TRUE: "They came out ready to play tonight.â€

They may be excuses, but it's hard to argue that the Bruins played flat against a team that came out flying in the first, ready to go, and kept up the challenge throughout the game.

Like Volcano and the others said, Krug was talking about that shift.

Why wasn't the energy matched? You aren't that good of a team and you need to win these games, yes I know they had to overcome a couple of pretty weak goals but they should have been wake up calls.

The team needs some type of energy boost, considering how terrible the 3rd line has been most of the season try some new options there. Give Debrusk, Hargrove or Randell a look. Give Chelarik a chance, make a move for an established 4th line hitter/energy player. These are moves that can be made much easier than getting a top 6 forward or top 4 D. Some type of emotional injection is needed into this team, maybe it is addition by subtraction, I've always heard Hayes is liked by teammates but if he is as lazy and unmotivated off ice as on he needs to go more than ever.

In a year or two you will have Senyshyn, Gabrielle and McAvoy as well as possibly Frederic, who should give at the least an injection of energy with speed and hitting, if Sweeney is intent on this route that's fine, I'm not sure how JJ will like not making the playoffs again because the reality is Rask and Pastrnak can only get them so far.

Hayes - waive

Nash - 9th floor

Czarnik - start buzzing son cos at the moment youre just another body out there

Backes - stick him 3C and see if he lifts

Frankie - Krejci's left when he returns i dont care if hes 'earnt' it or nkt.

Schaller - back on the 4th line, it needs him

Blidh/Acciari - I dont know, Acciari is the definition of offensive black hole, Blidh'/ had 2 very near misses but limited time, toss up.

Spooner - trade him for a legit RW, we have too many C's and when C's are firces to play wing you have situations where the middle of the ice is clogged cos they naturally migrate there (Spooner has been guilty of this with Krejci more than once)

Roll with Bergy/Krejci/Backes/Moore down the middlle, Marchand/Vatrano/Schaller on the left and Pastrnak/Spooner trade/no idea

Then give Moore some bodies to skate with, probably Blidh left side and Acciari right side. I dont know, im pissed off more than usual and im sick of seeing players out of position cos theyre playing in spots they arent used to. A Spooner trade is key here. We need a proper top 6 RW somehow coming back.

Edit - i just realised i left Beleskey out, put him 4th line LW (yes it hurts that were paying him a lot but putting him on the 3}
Rd line is useless and Schaller has more offense in him which is damn sad to say but its true)

Lots of great thoughts right here, willing to bet you will see some of these soon, I truly believe they will move Backes to centre sooner rather tan later.

The boys have a tough week ahead

Sat, Dec 10 vs Toronto 7:00 PM
Mon, Dec 12 @ Poutineville 7:30 PM
Wed, Dec 14 @ Pittsburgh 7:30 PM
Thu, Dec 15 vs Anaheim 7:00 PM

Once again they play on the road on Wednesday for NBC while Anaheim will be in Boston watching. Even Toronto can not be considered an easy 2 points. Montreal is a must win just for mental health purposes.

They did come out flat, but Claude didn't say that. Instead of ripping his team for a craptastical effort, he gave them a pass by saying the other team came out flying and looked well rested. The closest he came to being even somewhat critical was to say they let in some soft goals. No **** Claude, you guys let in some soft goals. Why not elaborate though and put some blame on the players who sucked and were responsible for allowing the soft goals? This country club atmosphere where there's no ramifications for sucking by veteran players is a huge part of the issue, IMO.

David Krejci -5 in the last two games. No mentions by Claude. David Backes -5 in the last two, no mention. Schaller is a -3. Spooner is a -3. Kevan Miller a -4 in the last two. No callouts. No accountability. And the real kicker? No adjustments when it's clearly been one line ******** the bed lately.

One measure at how bad last night was is Ladyfan did not check into the thread after getting home.

TD Garden does not scare visiting teams and I have no idea on how they can fix that.

That loss is on Khudobin. Brutal goaltending.

I got hope at 3-2, and even could have tied it up on Moore shotless breakaway but thatK.Miller penalty gave Avs a 4-2 lead and stopped the rally.

Fell asleep in the 3rd so can't comment to what happened in that period.

Tough loss to take against one of the worst team in the league. At least TB lost too. Still in 3rd place.

Now, let's rebound and win against Toronto tomorrow!

Go Pasta Go!

As awful an experience as it was, I did check first thing this morning and can confirm that the sun did indeed come up. Exhale: Ah, there I'm okay now. :)

I did hit press-alt-del before going to bed and found that effective to clear the mind. Readying for Toronto's visit with the normal positive expectation going in but knowing that win or lose, it will be followed by a jubilant response from fans and/or the autopsy. And those suckers are always messy. But hey, although they may not be much at this particular point of the season, they're really all we've got until someone decides differently. That could take awhile and then some.

Hang in there all. There will be better days ahead. Just ask Toronto!

Despite their record, "great" isn't exactly how I would describe the last two weeks.

There is no one, no one, even Claude Julien himself, that can convince me that there even one single veteran (i.e player over the age of 25, other than maybe Hayes) that fears for his job/spot/role even in the slightest.

Exactly. The air of complacency among the veterans has been rampant for the last 2 seasons. But thank God they brought in all the leadership and intangibles that David Backes brings, since he'll right the ship...:naughty:

Your best players need to be your best players. Right now, core members of your best players are playing the worst on the team. David Krejci making over $7 mill per and sucking is a huge issue.

I know I'm nitpicking, but he did callout Spooner less than a week ago. Do you want him to rip into him after every game?

Some **** should be left to the lockerroom, he doesn't have to rip into everyone in the media.

I am not a Sacco fan or a fan of how they run the PP.

But, with the compressed schedule and lack of practices, you can imagine that blowing up the PP and coming up with something new isn't just as simple as saying "let just put Pasta on PP1!".

I think you're overcomplicating it. It's simple to me. Krejci is on the PP point ripping slapshots, yet he has an awful one timer. Take him off the point and put Pasta there. It's that simple for me.
