Better tell the team that since they’re 1 point out of a playoff spot lol

Technically yes, but you may want to look at win percentage & games played if you’re going to bring up points. The Flames, Seattle or any of those other mid teams won’t pass Dallas in an 82 game season.

The Stars will be fine, they’ll make playoffs and from there, they have the team to win it (I'm anticipating Nill adding guys when I say that).

If the last couple seasons have shown me anything, having a dominant season does you no good in this playoff format.

His phrasing makes it seem like this team is out of the playoffs if they started today, which isn't true.

Too close for comfort, sure, but like you point out we've got games in hand. We're also quite likely to add reinforcements, and I imagine Nill wants that done sooner rather than later. He doesn't seem to like to make big moves on deadline day, he takes care of that stuff prior.

Yes, I worded that wrong.

They are on pace for 102 points, I think. About the same as last year, but down a little. IIRC we started playing well and overtook the division lead later in the season. I suspect that the entire team isn't focused as much on the division title this year, given it happened to give them the worst 1st round matchup. Of course, every season is different, so it may mean nothing.

Speaking of each year being different, it isn't surprising that our list of hot players is a bit different. A guy who averages 30 goals a season has many years with half that many goals. I think we have enough forwards to cover the differences between players, especially if Miro and Harley start scoring more.

Now, we have to get Otter a goal!
