I for one am shocked that a young team can lose its 1C and 1D and be affected. How?
They really haven’t been playing well for the last 10 games or more ,very little offence other than Marchand and Pasta ,they got off to a great start so they have breathing room in standing, but will playing around .500 hockey hold up .

Let me attack this from a different angle.

The hot start was a pleasant surprise.
However, one consequence of said hot start is that it makes it more difficult to simply stand pat and let the season play out, even if it means not contending for the Cup.

The coffers are basically empty.

So again, what do you do? Do you let it play out and hope for the best?

You have few chips to work with.
only way we make any noise in the playoffs is trading ullmark and probably gryz and debrusk. Get a top 2 center and something else out of the deal.
Right now debrusk and gryz are bringing nothing to the table. Will suck losing ullmark, but in playoffs its a one goalie gig.

Was happy I got to catch a full game for the first time in a while.

First off, I have no idea what people are talking about with the refereeing. It was inconsequential to me. They didn’t deserve any more than they got in that department.

Secondly, and I don’t say this as a “complaint”, but more as what I feel is an acknowledgement of current reality.

I think it’s a mid-level team. Yes, yes, I know they are at the top of the standings. But there is no aspect of this team (outside of goaltending) that really looks to be an upper echelon performer. I am not impressed with their ability to move the puck out of their own end (haven’t been all year). I am not impressed with the puck movement through the neutral zone. Not impressed with physicality. Not impressed with the effort of some players (we all fall victim to our own biases I understand, but to me Jake DeBrusk’s nightly effort is as bad as it’s ever been).

And honestly, I think that is just what this team is. It’s what many expected coming into the year and I think it’s what we are seeing now. Many teams have more talent. And the coaching, for me, has raised some serious eyebrows. It's just not a combo that I can see bringing them very far.

Bruins lost. A prerequisite for poor officiating.

You have a few options, Lysell may still be worth something, DeBrusk should be moved as should Grizz. Could the three of them, with two as UFA's, get you much? I don't know but they need to do something, this team is so passive it's revolting.

I would not move Swayman and only move Ullmark if it gives you a top 6 forward with term

One positive I took from the game was that good first period. The past few games they've been outplayed and outshot in the first, so it was nice to see a competitive first from them this time.

Probably had a lot to do with the Devils.

They have given up the first goal in 20 out of 27 games this season.

Well you know Eric, unless you are the CEO, a millionaire, marry either a beauty queen or porn star - or preferably both, valedictorian, your dog wins overall at Westminster (such pressure for that dog, one ill advised balls lick… ) or win Stanley Cup it’s all a big waste of time

Better yet bring in Tinordi & Seeler

When they do win a Cup it won't be enough.

Should have won multiple Cups.

If only they were 24-1-1 smh my head
Their record has nothing to do with it! If you can’t see it then I can’t help you, this is a deeply flawed team.

You know this in December? With the goalies and a healthy team in APRIL they could go on a run. If your convinced of they cant contend why watch?
They can have every one healthy and it won’t change my mind. They 1.5 goal scorers , this is not a team going on any deep runs .

Speaking for myself, because I am a fan but I know they are far from contenders for a number of reasons.

No consistent scoring
Depth but no real number 1 center
Defense that needs one or two crease clearers and hitters
As a group they make Charmin look like Grade 120 sandpaper, no physical forwards and no pushback
Mediocre management

My guess is Ullmark will be gone by next season anyway,so it makes sense to move him really.Debrusk I have been a big fan of him but I’m really loosing patience with him,and wouldn’t object if they moved him ,Gryz I thought they would have moved him this past offseason, totally done with him.

I forget if it was in OT or just late in the third but that dump-in where JDB made the world's softest attempt to forecheck and just bounced off the defender causing a counterattack the other way had me absolutely furious. All the NESN propaganda people like Jaffe have been telling us is that he's not putting up points but has been doing little things right away from the puck, but that's looking more and more like bullshit every game.
IMO he's definitely checked out. I can't say that I blame him. Monty makes some odd decisions with the lineup even when he has an abundance of talent (playoffs 2023). Jake knows his worth and is playing just well enough but probably is looking for his next contract in the West, doesn't want to play at 100%.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7K0feNtq1R8

Everyone who makes the playoffs is a contender.

In two of the last three seasons the 8th seed in the East have gone to the finals.

The two seasons before that, the 5th seed in the West went to the finals, one of them winning the Cup.

guy looks like hes skating with dull blades all the time.
And his passing is terrible at times: lots of giveaways and miscues. As others have said, he has not been terrible, but nothing like he was when he first came here, and like he was in Anaheim for a long time.

I agree, once you are in, all bets are off. Look at 2019 as a great example- Blues were dead last in the league and surged and got in, and we know what happened. For that matter, the Bruins were not a serious contender according to some, but the path was easier to the Finals than many predicted it would be. Injuries can happen to anyone and change a lot. This team to me does not scream Cup favorite, but it also good enough that once the playoffs start, anything can happen.

Agree where a team finishes during the regular season means dick especially after last season, but not seeing how this team would handle the physicality needed for the playoffs. An aggressive physical forcheck turns them into the Keystone cop’s every game ,not sure I can see that changing come playoffs when it intensifies greatly.

good lord was that a tough watch , can`t recall a game I`ve been more bored watching and it isn`t due to the low score, watched many super entertaining tilts that didn`t have many goals, this was paint drying material

go back to October 1 last year they wanted to blow it up

My favorite is we aren’t getting out of first round crowd
Agreed, there is so much that goes into winning a Stanley Cup.
Any playoff team who gets great goaltending and avoids major injuries has a legit shot. Yes the Bruins as constructed don't have the physical presence some feel is required, but if that was the sole factor why do skilled teams win the cup .
