It seems the games with the Devils are usually pretty boring, low scoring games. First game back after the flu bug and 3 days between playing, missing #1D and #1C, I will take the point.

I like the last couple of games with minimal penalties being called, they definitely let some stuff go both ways last night. The games are so much more enjoyable than the clown shows with constant marches to the penalty box.

Let me attack this from a different angle.

The hot start was a pleasant surprise.
However, one consequence of said hot start is that it makes it more difficult to simply stand pat and let the season play out, even if it means not contending for the Cup.

The coffers are basically empty.

So again, what do you do? Do you let it play out and hope for the best?

You have few chips to work with.

If they acquire any players this year I just hope it’s not for a rental. Anything they bring in needs to be a long term solution. Too many assets gone for rentals in recent seasons.

This is not a cup team, this a first round exit team, but we all knew this. Sell at the deadline to improve for the future, Marchy is on his final lap or two, Cupboards are in desperate need of restocking. No prospects, draft pick selection scene is ugly, need to shed some weight off this roster. Sweeney also needs to adjust his philosophy in favor of more balanced roster , to many Gryz-like players. Need some players that can put the puck in the net and dent things. They are overloaded with too many small speedy guys that can’t possess the puck after contact.

next to the bench
I’d prob guess he’s playing with a lingering injury…. He did that a couple times in Anaheim where he play would drop off a bit and he’d get surgery in the offseason.

purely guessing tho, havnt got to see him play much this year
His wrists are taped up a lot. I think that has something to do with it?

Geekie & Heinen were very good

McAvoy & Zacha did nothing

Went in wanting a point and got it

I did as well but the go 82- 0 crowd not happy I bet

Trade this guy, that guy lol
The Geek was a freak. Lohrei must listen to Johnny Cash "I Walk the Line", the play where he walked the line and deked the Devils forward and then slid it between his skates to his wide open D partner was Salming like. Our goaltending gives us a chance every night, so what. B's are at the top of the Eastern conference with a lineup filled out from Filene's basement. Maybe we're getting every last ounce out of what we have. And that's a hell of a lot more fun than being in the bottom of the basement whether it's the NHL or Filene's.

Tough crowd here, the Bruins are right near the top of the NHL standings and people are talking about them as if we are lucky to be in a playoff spot. For everyone who is commenting on the Bruins goaltending being the sole reason for their success, well last time I checked every other team has goalies too, it just so happens Boston's are superior and they are part of the team. This team has plenty of flaws, they really need another legit top 6 forward and some more muscle throughout the lineup, but this is still a very solid team.

my takeaway is Geekie could play third line center - he’s better with room and competes

I wanted Heinen scratched game 7 v Blues for 10 minutes of Backes. This edition is really good. Another strong game - I liked him with Geekie

Add McAvoy & Zacha they likely win

I am hoping for 3 points minimum out of this Metro 3 game series and they got one so I’m good

18-5-3. And we’re selling at the deadline.

This team is set up for years

They will hit on 19 year old Poitras, 22 year old Lohrei and Bussi who’s probably better than half the NHL backups now and playing phenomenal in the AHL and draws Swayman comps on and off ice

I’ll leave the worrying to others - I been low on their point total last 3 years and look like coming in again

If they can add Hanifin that D & G will be hockey equivalent to the 1970 Orioles starting pitching and left side of infield

Like that comparison, Bruins have the equivalent of the best pitching staff in the majors with their goaltending tandem.

When you're 18-5-3 you almost have to sell
Well you know Eric, unless you are the CEO, a millionaire, marry either a beauty queen or porn star - or preferably both, valedictorian, your dog wins overall at Westminster (such pressure for that dog, one ill advised balls lick… ) or win Stanley Cup it’s all a big waste of time

Better yet bring in Tinordi & Seeler

If they go in at the TDL, it has to be free agents that they are sure they can sign. So they may ride it out until July.

Move Debrusk. I know he is at a low point sell wise but maybe he needs a change of scenery. He is playing like he wsnts out

Was happy I got to catch a full game for the first time in a while.

First off, I have no idea what people are talking about with the refereeing. It was inconsequential to me. They didn’t deserve any more than they got in that department.

Secondly, and I don’t say this as a “complaint”, but more as what I feel is an acknowledgement of current reality.

I think it’s a mid-level team. Yes, yes, I know they are at the top of the standings. But there is no aspect of this team (outside of goaltending) that really looks to be an upper echelon performer. I am not impressed with their ability to move the puck out of their own end (haven’t been all year). I am not impressed with the puck movement through the neutral zone. Not impressed with physicality. Not impressed with the effort of some players (we all fall victim to our own biases I understand, but to me Jake DeBrusk’s nightly effort is as bad as it’s ever been).

And honestly, I think that is just what this team is. It’s what many expected coming into the year and I think it’s what we are seeing now. Many teams have more talent. And the coaching, for me, has raised some serious eyebrows. It's just not a combo that I can see bringing them very far.
