i personally think this is a must. the kid knows his niche.... 23 seconds grab beagle or Wilson and show them what's up.... every time we play the caps there's soo many dirty hits (mcquaid last year) etc.... they need someone who's going to step in no matter what even if we're in the wrong.... it feels like maybe the coaching staff has neutered that aspect of the physical game telling the guys not get involved in too many fisticuffs... but really unleash randell for a game. or bring back rinaldo and let him do what he does best... but only against the caps or habs....

I'd LOVE to see Randell called up. Love what he brings.

Rinaldo is not a viable solution/transaction . He still MUST sit out his 5 game suspension if you recall him. The net result is loss of a roster spot/Cap space as well as he personally loses out on ~ 50K to 60K in salary for the year.

Aint happening.

Well, of all the recent Caps-Bruins games I've been to that was by far the most entertaining! Good crowd here too.

Pasta is ****ing unreal. And what a goal by Chiller that was something!

Definitely not Rask's best game, but still made some awesome saves and lord he knows he deserves an off night

Did you wear Bruins jersey?

Ill admit- after they went down 2-0, I binge watched 3 episodes of Westworld.
When I turned it back on I saw they lost in OT.

im happy with the point as long as they get 2 tonite.

Carlo had a rough game.
I watched the ot on dvr and man.
Horrible play to give it away after getting possession on the faceoff.

Terrible on the 2-on-1 too. His job is to play the pass while keeping the shooter to the outside. He let them both down the gut, and then he didn't even play the pass. He even had Marchand coming back to help move the shooter to a worse angle, and he still didn't favor the pass. Just a bad rookie play. Good thing is, the kid seems to learn and rarely makes the same mistake twice.

Marchand was just as bad on the play. He may have been tired, but he was really slow getting back.

Good game. B'z were strong on puck. Colin Miller was great. Yes I said Colin Miller.:handclap

He played mostly with Krug which is a pair I hoped would get a look. I've been trying to look at analytics more this season and the numbers suggested those two would do well together. Individually they help generate a lot of shots and the WOWy chart suggests that when together their shot generation and shot suppression numbers improve.

I really wish they kept Chara and Carlo together to go with Krug and Chiller. Unfortunately, Claude will refuse to sit one of K.Miller and Mcquaid. Joe Morrow should slot in with one of those two. But I don't think it's going to happen. It should happen though!

Somewhere in the middle
that Backes/Krecji combo just doesn't seem to be gelling... backs isn't the traditional type krejci is used to playing with... he doesn't have the same level of finish that Horton or lucic had/ve.. backs seems to be more of a net front (Eriksson) type. problem is you don't want to move pasta right now... kids playing out of his mind with 63/37... they should sit jimmy down and tell him listen... you're gonna play with DK... if you don't get on the board you'll be riding the bus in prov.

Backes is fine, both he and Krejci are known for slow starts, compile that with the new team for Backes & the bionic hip for Krejci and I'll lengthen my leash a little. They both look better and better as the season moves on......Hayes on the other hand......WYSIWYG.

No way I'd have Hayes on the 2nd line with Krejci while pushing Backes to C the 3rd, no way.

Krejci would cry inside.

We're talking 22 games for Backes now.

True, but after Marchand gassed out, at that point it was a pure 2-on-1, with the slight possibility of Marchand coming late, and Carlo just blew it. Goalie takes the shooter, D plays the pass and tries to get the shooter wide. Learned it in Squirts (Note: That doesn't mean a rookie D gets brain cramps at NHL speeds, it's expected).

That's OK though, our 30 year old goalie blew one too. He should have played the shooter and he veered towards a pass. It happens. Overall, good comeback vs. a team that usually owns them. With their record against Holtby, putting 3 past him is no easy feat.

I didn't really mean that as a defense of Carlo, he certainly ****ed up.

Definitely regret shutting this one off.

Got the lady into the bruins but she's not a die hard enough fan yet to stick out tough games, and truth be told considering how busy I am, since last season I started shutting games off and doing something else if the bruins looked like gahbage because time is precious - but this one I was on the fence about turning off, and it ended up being a good lesson for her not to quit on the bruins :)

Will pastrnak ever cool off? He plays in a way that makes me think he'll just score every game

One highlight package referred to him as "a goal scoring machine" after showing his handy work. Now that has an awesome ring to it:handclap:

As many here have referenced, not all points are created equally. As the Bruins were no doubt high giving in their room following the game, then Caps were in a closed door meeting in theirs. Couple quotes from a Canadian Press article on the game.

"No, instead Washington held a players-only meeting, still salty over blowing a three-goal lead."
"In the second and third period they outplayed," Backstrom said. "We were lucky that we came up with two points. We're not satisfied at all. We're happy with the two points, but not the way we played."
"The locker room remained closed for approximately 15 minutes after the win, Washington's second in a row after losing three straight."

"Hell of an effort. We got a big point for us. To comeback from 3-0 against Washington, it's not that easy," Pastrnak said. "Too bad we couldn't get the two points, but in this case the one point is huge for us."

Couldn't agree more Mr. Pastrnak!

Bruins dominated for the last 40 minutes. Honestly I'm really impressed with how well this team has outshot their opponents this season. Holding the caps to 20 SOG is a very good indicator of what this team is capable of.

This.

In the old days (like uhh, 4-5 years ago), Claude would start the next game against the Caps with Randell, Backes, McQuaid, Killer, and Chara at the dot. Turkey Trotz would get the lineup, send out his matching guys, and as quick as you can say "3 fights in 4 seconds against Dallas" it would be on like Donkey Kong.

But alas, those days are gone. :(

Great battle back from the Bruins. They're still softer than baby ****, though. Would have liked to see some issues addressed last night.

THey don't even see Washington again until February.

The NHL really needs to fix the scheduling- more games within the division and in conference. Does anyone really care about playing the West?

Not at all. Especially teams like "Vegas" and Phoenix and Minnesota etc.

Completely agree.

I'd rather the bulk of their games are played against the Atlantic and Metro.

Last night is a perfect example. There is no reason we should have to wait two more months to see that team. There was some serious BS going on in that game last night, and I bet both teams would like to settle it soon.

It's the same BS with only playing your division 4 times a piece.

gutsy comeback. i had my doubts for sure.. im completely on board with the breakup of krejci and backes.. how many times was their line hemmed into their own zone for long periods of time!!? why morrow continues to be the healthy scratch is beyond me .. hes playing his best hockey and looked to be turning the corner in his career and then we bench him for a guy ( as much as i love mcquaid) whos peak is greatly behind him

Adding guys like Vatrano and Acciari and a prospect or two and replacing unproductive players bodes well for this team

Likeable team that I expect to get better

Having Joe Morrow scratched is either nuts or shows the depth they have on D as well

I agree. Other than Hayes, who do you see as "unproductive"?

Belesky? I thought he played well last season and is just going thru a rough patch right now.
Nash? I actually think he's playing well for a fourth liner.
Spooner? Maybe but he might just have a confidence issue he needs to work through.

I guess I could see Vats and Acciari replacing Hayes and Nash, but they will struggle as well being rookies.
