Nashville made some big changes to their core which usually means a team takes time to come together.... so I expected Nashville to struggle but get better as time moves on and make the playoffs.

But I never thought they would only have 7 wins to this point. They should still get better but the playoff prediction looks to be a bad one.
I saw an article a few weeks ago about the Preds having a very dysfunctional locker room.

And they are also coming to Montréal having lost their 5 last games.

Ya but then they call Roy up for 3 games? Again? Especially when the team has looked pretty soft.

I think the Habs make their moves guided by a long term vision that Pezzetta does not fit into.

I found the Roy callup to be curious, but it was exactly the quarter mark when they did do that, so I'm wondering if it was a premeditated move going back to the time he got cut from the team. He was anticipated to have a roster spot back then but he his camp was so poor that maybe they had decided at that point that they will send him down and check back in after the first quarter.

At this stage of their rebuild, I think they would be investing more into a Roy type than a Pezzetta type.

HAT TRICK WATCH PATRIK LAINE LET'S GOO!!!!
The second game back after a long lay off is usually tougher than the first.
The good news is that it shouldn't affect him too much from the top of the left circle on the PP. :D
Poor Cole Laine is just better from that spot.

Which Habs team will we see tonight? The one who plays a good, responsible game or the one who gives up 6 goals?

The battle of the tank. Nashville for some 4d chess tank for McKenna. Nobody will complain about them tanking while they got the generational talent.
McKenna is a '26 draft eligible player. Tanking this year may get them Hagens/Misa/Martone/Schaefer.

I know Slaf's draft year ended up being no decisive first overall, but Wright was the consensus number 1 all year until the last month or so before the draft. I don't remember there being this much variance between this many players for #1 at this point in the season. Seems to always be the case when we draft high; #3 in '12, #3 in '18, #1 in '22... If the season finishes without a consensus #1, it's guaranteed that we draft in the first 2 picks.

It's one of the oldest team in the NHL if not the oldest. They'll suck again next season.

Yeah, all of our UFAs. Dvorak, Armia & Savard are getting moved for sure. Dvo is a 4th line center. Not sure about Evans.
I think Evans is likely to be resigned if he want and the price is right. Hard to go into next year with only 1 C you can trust (Suzuki). So unless they find proven replacement between now and the end of the season, my guess is that they can't let Evans go.

That's logical. But anything can happen with the Habs. The Habs defies all logic.
You get the feeling that Nashville is on the verge of breaking out of their scoring slump and what better team to do it against than a team that gave up 8 against Seattle?

Beck is doing great in Laval and could play in the NHL right now. Kapanen will also be ready next season.

I agree but I’m not sure what they saw to call him up again. You could be right that it was planned but if you don’t have to, leave these guys down there and maybe win some playoff rounds.

Mostly players who offer a lot more than Pezzetta. Can't believe he is 6'1' 220 lb. Plays and fights like hie is 5'8' 160 lb.
He always plays with energy and actually is a leader in hits when he plays. He’s not a great fighter but I’m not sure where you get that he plays small. He hits more than any other forward

I gotta disagree on that. There’s no one in Laval who should/could play and contribute in the nhl right now. (Outside of back up goalies)Beck hasn’t been that noticeable for quite a few games.

I'm not dismissing either and I fact, I would love to see one of them on the team next year, but they remain unproven at the NHL and it may be a risky move to rely on them to fill a C role next season. That said, their presence in the system gives option to KH and some leverage when negotiating with Evans camp.

Has anyone asked management why they don’t dress Pezz? Very curious. It’s been over a month.
Pezz was never a favorite to begin but I have to think the staff blame him for the pre-season fiasco against the Leafs.
He blasted John Tavares on a late(ish) hit which as I said at the time flies in the face of the code for veteran players.
Tavares was expecting him to let up he didn't and that set off the ensuing fireworks.
Maybe the end result would have been the same but I could see it pissing management off given the end results.

Then trade him or put him on waivers. There were rumours that Jersey was interested in him. I don’t think management would leave him in the press box this long because of that.

Oh I agree it makes no sense.
You also have to think if he wasn't able to get in games when we stunk out the league when will he as our play improves.

The bottom line is that this team will look very different next season. Some vets will be gone, Primeau will be gone, I’d suspect they’ll sign RfA’s, make a trade or 2. I wouldn’t be surprised if none of the prospects make it out of camp. They’re going to be expected to compete next year. You don’t do that by adding another 3 or 4 20 year olds. Maybe (most probably) Demidov makes it. Maybe Tuch as a 4th liner.

Ya he’s not bumping anyone out. They should’ve dressed him instead of calling Roy up though.

I think we put a hurt on them tonight personally
The lines were looking way better
Just because we didn't score 5 doesn't mean they weren't all working out the kinks , you know.. playing together for the FIRST time most of the lines

5-2 Habs
