Watching this game, at least I saw positive things from players that matter. Mo and Ed are the real deal, Kasper and Burger both trending in the right direction... Marco is showing some offensive instinct, and Jonatan was playing with some grit and intensity. Even Moose had a decent game.
I wish we would have ended up with just one decent number 3 D instead of all pointless cruft signings for players that are no better than the "insufficiently overripe" youth.
I wish Veleno would recognize that he needs to be an impact player, but he seems fine losing games just as long as he is following the coaches' rules.
But, wishes aside, having this bunch of warm bodies on the roster is making it obvious for the kids that they just have to get things done themselves.

Pick 9 would be decent...we're gonna pick 15 again
Naaaa lol this team wont be in a playoff mix last few weeks , sure as shit dont want pick 9-12. Worst place to be

If we dont make a few moves to improve this team asap ,start shipping guys out play keep playing guys in the top 6 that have no business being there and call up wallinder, buium, soderblom etc.. sooner and see what's there ...

Give some trial runs and get a high end pick to add to what's already coming cause we need that high end potential guy like misa Schaeffer hagens ... and I seen yzerman at one of those games with the kids so he must be wondering if his teams still close to the bottom next 10-20 games if tanking would be for the best

Pick 15 ... 0 % chance

Not too long ago ppl were just ready to throw berggren in the garbage ... baffling

Might not be a part of the future longterm but the Kids got talent

I'm fully onboard the Compher hate train.

I just don't get how he could look so good in the beggining of last season, to this. An absolute black-hole.

I just hope Yzerman blows it up, give up on the season. The team needs the injection of 1 more elite talent to truly get over the hump and never look back.
Lmfao first debrincat now compher bahaha better late than never ... welcome to the awakening. Copp 2.0 destined for 3rd line with andre on the 4th

Ok cool so rebuild the current rebuild

We're bottoming out in year 9 of no playoffs...go wings go baby!

We are the joke of the league. I feel embarrassed wearing my wings hat in public

Ahhh its just someone else came to the realization debrincat sucked earlier and now your seeing the light with compher lmao
You may be dissapointed to hear that i don't absolutely hate Copp. Overpaid, yes, but he brings something.

With Compher there's been nothing this season, like he's a headless chicken out. Never in position, late on the puck, can't win a face-off and DREADFUL on the PK.

Compher has 12 goals against on the PK,

Pretty over DeBrincat...
I sorta agree...Now granted I'll admit to haven't watched every game this season as some here have, but from what I've seen from him leaves me thinking that if there's a good offer trade wise.....

JT Compher sucks so much and is such a waste of cap space

It's amazing people defend Yzerman with the amount of money we spend on compher, Copp, chiarot, Holl, Petry, gustafsson...even veleno and ras are overpaid for what they do

This roster is loaded with overpaid losers, yet as fans were supposed to watch and expect results
This is when a GM with hair on his nutz fires the coaching staff.

IMHO these guys are more capable with a capable coach leading the way.

What current rebuild ? Lmao we have kasper edvinsson seider larkin raymond that's going to be here in 3 years ... maybe berggren if he has a big season next year and some prospects bust or take longer

That's it... there is no current rebuild lol I don't see anyone else being here in 3 years... maybe rasmussen cause of his size but if your making 3+ mill would you want a pay cut to play on the 4th line???

It sucks after what you saw last season but pulling a devils when they got nemec and making the playoffs the following season is the best case scenario.

Add a misa/hagens/Schaeffer to the pipeline with nygard pellikka cossa danielson buchelnikov lombardi finnie

Use picks from trades this season + likes of plante,buium/wallinder,soderblom etc.. and make trades to help us next season d the future

Havent given up this year yet but if yzerman doesnt make a couple of little moves soon we'll end up with 10th pick

Been saying it for a year now 0% chance yzerman will sign him to a 7 year deal. Would have happened already and there was a reason he got 4 years

I'd be more than willing to deal him ... heck nyr are desperate now and k'andre Miller's name was out there

edvinsson seider
miller pellikka

Top 4 longterm ... gimme

He brings veteran leadership at double his real value. Pass ... I said hed be the most overpaid 4th liner in the league and hes already got there sooner than expected

Always said since day 1 compher like copp wasn't a 2c and benefited from playing with a strong avs team to earn that contract. Hes already going downhill and if yzerman was smart he'd move him now while he still can and put kasper up since danielson will be here next season losing compher wont Matter and we'll gain cap space

Nashville are desperate now after all those moves , send them compher in a package deal with other pieces for a wood(suspect that will be a hard one) or an edstrom/svechkov

Time to take out some trash

I feel like Rasmussen embodies the Red Wings right now. Looks good some nights. Has some skill bubbling just under the surface. Has potential. Makes a string of decent plays. But then gets steamrolled some nights. Looks super awkward. Kind of flails around as the play moves around him. Looks lost. Tries really hard but just can't seem to consistently find a groove or an identity.

At first I bought Wings were robbed but he was definitely holding Pastrnak's stick on review.
I'll accept that. They shouldn't have been in OT in the first place anyway.

I'm hardly a "fire LaLonde" guy, but I agree with you. The top talent SHOULD be able to push through the pillowcase-ful of fishing weights that is the bottom talent, at least a little. To me that's leadership + coaching. Never having coached pro/athletes I have no insight though.

Even not having coached there are really just a couple key things to consider with the Wings' inconsistent play, and lets single out the PK.

1. The Wings are playing on the PK as they are being coached to play. This is a systems issue.
2. The Wings are not playing on the PK as they are being coached to play. This is an accountability issue.

Either one of those being true, falls on the heads of the coaches. They are either doing what you're telling them to do. Or, and almost more damning, they aren't playing as coached because they don't respect you.

Two seasons ago the 4th worst SJ Sharks had a top 10 PK. This season Montreal and Nashville, both bottom 3 teams, have a top 10 PK. Bad teams can be taught good systems.

Was at the game, was pissed at what I thought was a non call in OT but watched it when I got home and Cat was holding Pastas stick and lost an edge, there was no penalty. This team is a dumpster fire. Sell anyone not named Raymond, Ed or Seider on the big club and try again in 5 years.

A timely save? By Husso?

I'm gonna make the effort to focus on the positive here or I'll be stewing on another pointless OTL. Raymond is noticeable all over the ice, Ed skating around like a forward was a sight to behold, and we all know that Kasper had a proper goal this game and continues to impress.

Here's hoping for a lottery win and then never having to think this way for the next 10-15 seasons.

As each game passes, Compher heads north in my all time infuriating Wings list. Not many above him at this point. What a waste of space.

Not that this really matters, but sometimes NHL stat makers just make no sense to me. Edvinsson finished the game with no hits despite absolutely crunching pasta with a heavy hit behind the net. I often see his stats end with him not having hits but then remembering him really laying the body on guys during the game. Nothing serious, but sometimes I just think NHL stats can be all over the place.
