Bad. Top to bottom it was all bad. No urgency or interest in the one whatsoever. They padded the SOG stat in the last five minutes and still got nothing out of it. Otherwise looked like they were just there to collect a check
There is a settling for less, a deadness to this particular team that is really bothering me, and which I have not seen since before Julien arrived.

Just in.

What a stinker.

Pasta was the least of the problems tonight.

He was trying.

Brad worked hard.

Did Jake play tonight?

I hope Charlie Mac will be ok. Did not like that at all.
Notice that the second anyone says anything remotely negative about DeBrusk suddenly Pasta gets picked apart. Gee I wonder why.

I had a bad feeling about this game after you predicted a Bruins win

C-Mac took a jarring elbow right to the melon, and I'm hoping they just kept him outta the game as a precaution for Concussion protocol rules.....but will be back Saturday

All around terrible effort by the B's tonight. I guess the guys are gonna let Marchand score the rest of the goals for the season

..they WILL be better on Saturday.....book it
A jarring elbow to his head? Um no how about he tries to hit the guy at an odd angle, and runs into his elbow.

There was nothing nefarious or blatant about what happened. McAvoy needs to be more aware when going in for those kinds of hits.

Lucky enough to have caught last nights game. A few things that stood out....

1) There is a serious lack of speed up front. Frederic-Geekie-JVR might be the slowest line in the league. Danton Heinen still only has one gear.

2) Shooting ability/scoring from range is still an issue for this club both up front and on the back-end. Can't score every goal in tight or a Pasta one-timer.

3) Jake Debrusk shouldn't be anywhere near Pastrnak. Debrusk is terrible at setting up his line-mates and having a winger on the opposite side who rarely sets up scoring chances limits what Pasta will produce and this team isn't deep enough scoring-wise to limit what their home-run hitter (Pasta) can hit.

4) I never thought I'd say this but I like Oskar Steen. Brings speed and gumption to the forward group that needs it. May never be more than a 4th line guy but there is an NHL player there.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Great post. I don't like Jake with Pasta either.

you are 100% spot on about debrusk. the guy is not a playmaker. i think a debrusk potrais steen line would work

The team lacks offense and physicality add in too many passengers right now, when they do not hustle and give their best these are the results. We need 2 more legit top 6 forwards and some nasty on the bottom 6 and on D.

One thing I'll say is that the Bruins in these jerseys that resemble the old Bourque/Neely ones in their striping and the Sabres going back to the royal blue versions of those uniforms really gives me a nostalgia hit. One of the first games I can remember watching was when Fox first started broadcasting the NHL in 1995 and they had Bruins/Sabres as one of the early season games on a Saturday afternoon I believe.
I was a big fan of those Fox robots when I was a kid. One of my earliest Bruins memories as well.

Well...only had the game on in the background so I didn't pay attention to the full misery of the game...did stop to focus on the over 10 minutes of continuous no whistle play in the 3rd ..which was entertaining but led to the back breaking 3rd Sabres goal.....as my ex once said to me ... we need more finishers in the game, someone to be able just to bang it home from the dirty areas :) :xcheers:

JvR does that well (bang it home from the dirty areas) but he's cooled off after a great start :(

Other than him it gets pretty thin, Coyle sometimes goes there but not often enough for my liking.

I think the team's pt total is leading people to believe it's not still a transition year. I don't see a cup winner here guys. But I see GREAT bones for one soon. Sweeneely have to take what comes now and not force it. The team is young and has tremendous potential. If we get Hanafin free in the offseason and make a play for a top 6 forward, then we're on to something.

Till then everything here is vastly surpassing my expectations for the year. Specially the quality of the draft picks we're handing over to teams we traded them to. I'm just glad they aren't high picks right now.

Bruins seem to be skating in sand in the first period last night. Guess they needed a shot of Geritol. Marchy just can't be the only player capable of putting a puck behind a goalie. Someone has to step up here. Quote from Ted in the movie about the bear. " We had so much hope for dose bums". Bruins are a blue colour team this season that has to bring their lunch pails every game. Monty has to earn his keep trying to get this bunch to play hard for 60 minutes this season. Speed kills and Monty had to find a way for this Motley Crew to counter act this in some way against faster squads.
